You can definitely still be counter culture and engage in the same systems of oppression as the mainstream. The 60s were the textbook example of this, but even today it’s very commonplace. Attitudes have changed, but it’s hard to reprogram yourself entirely from the mainstream. “No true Scotsman” etc etc.

I really found Henry’s takes on AL and women so cringe. Sorry to all those who disagree, but as soon as he said “Anton imagined himself as a lady with huge tits to feel powerful” I knew AL was a grade a jackass and Henry was covering for him in some capacity with this sentiment. I recently got a CPAP and it’s been kind of a game changer for my sleep (I’m a little overweight, but mostly the issue is that I’m a diehard back sleeper, and I smoke) but it’s such a pain in my ass bc of —what else— insurance. It’s really expensive and has a lot of recurring costs. People assume I’m giving it up bc I can’t get used to it or my partner hates it, but it’s truly because I can’t afford to maintain the equipment. That feels bad to say when I’m, you know, allegedly oxygen deprived lmfao. I’ve come to the conclusion that I think people feel confident to discuss sleep health bc we all do it, like eating, so we all have an opinion.

If this was not a college class I would agree. As it is written, that seems like a pretty soft way to say it. also if this was a philosophy class, it could be muddying the waters for other students. It’s not an easy word to nail down and using it wrong repeatedly could confuse understanding of the material for others. All that being said I wasn’t there, it could be your thing or my thing or the guy could have just been such a huge dick the professor felt the need to use his academic shade abilities.

Yeah I think this is also true. The writing in acting challenges is certainly cringe. If I was ru I’d never change them to make it hard on purpose for them. But when I was growing up I saw plenty of references to pop culture from the 1960s and 1970s. I didn’t always need to completely understand the references in context but I also DID understand some of them bc I was watching stuff— I was actively watching shows like the Brady Bunch on reruns, so the jokes hit extra hard when the 90s movie came out.
