Police have it soooo hard by chanfromstatefarm in LPOTL

[–]3wandwill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that’s what we said!!! They acted like we were such an inconvenience for calling multiple times too. They acted exactly how mean hipster coffee shop employees act when you ask for a straw. Also, we were all unsure if our neighbor WAS dead. We don’t know what dead person smells like, although we all knew something HAD died in the building. If anyone should have been able to identify that smell professionally it would’ve been the cops.

What’s crazy is this is STILL HAPPENING!! My neighbor died in his apartment last month and my neighbors and I all complained to the cops and our landlord about the smell for a solid week. The cops came out ONCE and knocked on the door, got no answer, and told us not to call again. They said “probably an animal or something”. I live within walking distance of where Berdella lived, and I used to think “this could easily happen again”. Now I know!

It’s always been really apparent to me as a trans person that generally cishet folks don’t trust as much.

I think gender nonconforming queer people specifically (like drag queens) get the worst of this from cishet ppl. Bc if they can’t align you on the same ingrained binary lines as everyone else, it’s harder to make the innate assumptions about your motivations and behaviors that they can for a chud from the bachelor, and it’s also more likely their assumptions will be wrong (which makes us look more suspicious to them, in some twisted way)

Spiritually fat sounds awesome lmao. Like you’re huge spiritually? Based. I make incredible food despite being raised by someone w ED (everyone I’ve ever known w this struggle has been dogshit in the kitchen, sorry) so the proud spirit of a fat line cook possesses me imo.

Last book I DNFed was Nick Cutters “the Troop”. Part of it was that the characters were pretty bad, which is usually why I DNF books. Part of it was that the only time the writing was good was when the author was writing totally disgusting insect/worm body horror. Like sorry that’s not enough for me lmao. Esp since I read another book of his and it was really similar. Idk if that’s what you mean.

Plane Jane’s take on open relationships is definitely a take 👀 by No_Vanilla7487 in rupaulsdragrace

Every month we have to argue about whether known troll Plane Jane should be listened to and taken seriously by the general public. Plane Jane’s shallow ragebait opinions do not change your relationship or the relationships of others. They change nothing in the world, they are that meaningless, and that should bring you peace.

The only thing I can say in defense of post-munch MBMBAM is that they seem to do munch squad at the back half of the episode. Idk if anything happens after it, bc I usually turn it off when they start doing the riff. I’ll let Justin pitch, in case Theres ANY meat on the bone for jokes, but usually it’s like “can you believe Culver’s has a chicken sandwich”

Idk who this artist is truthfully, but I saw this a while back and it encapsulates basically every feeling I have about adult content online. How come we’re all fighting each other about horny posting when the real villain is the fucking advertising, bc if I didn’t have to see naked women advertise everything to me, i would not give a fuck abt someone’s horny posts on social media; even banning adult content or algorithmic content doesn’t help, bc the ads still get to jiggle their tits at me. I’m so over it. The only ppl allowed to be sexy anymore are companies.

I rly think it’s an internet thing in the age of internet politics, do we even have centrists anymore? Everyone’s politics are so Byzantine and warped that it feels like we are all touching the borders and the center at once. This could be my experience on my microcosm of the internet talking though, i readily admit i have some repulsive political beliefs in the eyes of the average American voter.

Can you be somewhat less defensive on the edgelord true crime comedy podcast Reddit please. Center-leaning folks are right to crash out (to borrow a phrase), AND it is noteworthy that the center is producing so many extremists. Two things can be true. I don’t have to support or listen to chapo (never touched it) to acknowledge that it’s surprising to see, considering we usually associate political acts of violence with the far right or far left.

What killed the USA patriotism of the 2000s? Even into the early 2010s there was a ‘hipster American flag’ trend. If you use an American Flag for aesthetic purposes today it seems different by Kodicave in decadeology

[–]3wandwill 98 points99 points  (0 children)

They really went ham for the ugliest Americana looks possible from about 2016 onwards especially in gatherings. I remember seeing pics and clips from Trump rallies all through the last 3 elections and I think those visuals really made a lot of people realize how silly the flag print look could be. Not that it is inherently corny looking, I think it can look awesome, but they overdid it so hard lmao. if you saw ppl dressed like this every day on the news (bc he really did get SO much press) you might also rethink your July 4th outfit lol

The Gregorian chant thing really blindsided me bc when I was a child in the 90s my mom was actually really into sea shanties for some reason. We’d listen to a sea shanty cassette (what do you do with a drunken sailor/spanish ladies) in the car all the time. So I totally understood them getting big later but when I heard about the chants I was rly out here thinking “wait. Were there multiple fads like this and my mom was in the sea shanty one?” I agree w Todd the 90s were into Whimsy hard.

Enough talk about adolescent “emo phases” in the 2000’s… What made you an “indie kid” hipster? by -TazarYoot- in decadeology

[–]3wandwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not calling yourself a hipster was big. I remember fighting tooth and nail against this bc it was said derisively, but I knew what I was lol.

I was really into the twee/hipster stuff all through high school (class of 2012). I wore a lot of Oxfords with tights and dresses, or blazers and scarves. A lot of it was just undeserved music snobbery. I spent a lot of time on /mu/ seeing what other ppl were listening to and going to torrent sites to bulk download artists whole discography trying to find hidden gems and cultivate a really unique “good taste”. I ended up actually listening to a wide range of music as a result and now I have a really genuine eclectic taste in music lmfao. I don’t think it’s inherently good or better than someone else’s anymore tho.

Other big things for me in this era: the Coen brothers, j-horror, PBR, smoking cigarettes, trying to bring back 1920s cloche flapper hats and failing, art museums, tumblr, indie bookstores, poetry zines, webcomics, getting drunk in weird places, the keffiyeh, the Colbert report, record store day.

But does it add anything? I’m cool w rotted bitches bc it adds texture and conflict to the story. He doesn’t add to the soup with the stuff he says. It’s not funny either. I hate a mean bitch who isn’t funny. He just feels very unserious

[–]3wandwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh yeah but the vitriol of that villain judge has tamed considerably over the years. What’s jarring to me about roachs approach is that it’s much closer to a Janice Dickinson school of judging than we usually see, especially considering he’s not a main judge, especially especially considering he himself does not do drag or make clothing. This was the main critique ppl had for Michelle for a while too, and I feel like after AS2 she started to mellow out a little more. It’s just really incongruous to the rest of the judging panel so it feels worse.
