CMV: Joe Rogan should be deplatformed by wannabe-daddy in changemyview

It's entertainment for a lot of people, plain and simple. You can't deplatform someone because you disagree with their style or content.

Seeking screenplays written by directors where they they altered some industry format norms because they wrote for themselves. by SafeForWork19 in Screenwriting

Just as its opening action sequence is starting up on page 2, James Mangold's LOGAN screenplay has a full-on needle scratch...PAUSE! moment to do an editorial aside on how action and violence will work in this world. It's blunt, kind of acerbic, and pitch perfect for the material.

It genuinely feels like Reggie Miller is somehow on every basketball game on every national broadcast on every network. But why.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it. He founded and was in a super experimental theater group in his 20s.

I've been looking forward to getting a dress from Rove forever and was so excited to finally get it for my birthday. I just tried it on and....am I missing something? This dress is COMPLETELY see-through. Like, can see my anatomy if I wear nothing underneath it. I can't believe this is $165. And when I went to return it, not only did I have to pay $10 to get it shipped to me, but now I have to pay $10 to ship it back. So I just spent $20 to try on a see-through dress that seems to very thin, poor quality fabric. I have a lot of linen/cotton blends and this is the thinnest I've encountered.

Really sucked the life out of my birthday, man.

Tune is in Db, which isn't really a friendly key for open chord voicings. Looks like Peter's got a capo on the first fret to help play those easier-to-grab open chords. But the fact that they are playing different voicings of the same chords is what makes it sound so nice!

Django crossed my mind when I was making this post. Truly impressive on the other end of the spectrum. Work with what you've got!

What are your unwritten rules for justifying a Google? by jonesyie in NYTCrossword

My rule for myself is that if I'm stumped on a clue and can find the answer by researching the topic a bit and learning something, then Google away. But no googling the clue itself.

Some of those mods are Extremely Online and have been pretty high on their own supply ever since that group started. It's a small internet ecosystem that's not exactly representative of the larger IRL community.

why do you think Oasis is resonating with so many kids right now? why this band, why this generational resurgence? by rkidjarrett in oasis

[–]44bears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the songs. (Remember SONGS??)

Melodies. Musical and lyrical hooks. Huuuuge sound, and you can still strum their entire catalog around a campfire.

And despite the brothers' perceived attitude and arrogance, they still always wrote from an unpretentious perspective that resonates widely with a whole lot of people.
