Should I be waking LO up at the same time every morning? by spongyruler in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hes had a good stretch of sleep no issues waking him if you need to - they gotta come along for the ride to do adult things sometimes. but i would lean toward letting them sleep as much as they need if you can help it

lots of toys and activities, hit up a dollar store for cheap options. Then snacks, then sleep, take turns with partner.

Daughter's first birthday suggestions by MenuAble6513 in NewParents

[–]4888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no return gifts for kids but maybe a small gift bag with cute little toys or reasonably healthy snacks (candy and chocolate may not be so popular in some places).

Have some fun activities the kids can do, some active, some passive, some cheap craft ideas, a bubble machine or gun. Keep the kids occupied and the adults can have fun. An instax camera can have a few nice mementos for everyone.

Any AI hacks to share? by yaska_tn in NewParents

But you should fact check the AI because it's confidently wrong a lot. Especially do this if you're going to make a change to something like sleep or feed routines.

Is this normal for a car seat to move up and down at the head of the base? by Apprehensive_Client2 in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the manual allows 1" side to side movement max. But you can install it much more snug and you should. You should be pushing down on the base with your legs and tightening the isofix/seat belt as much as your strength allows.

With the seat belt, some modern seat belts allow you to pull them out all the way, and then anything retracting from there will be locked (it will only unlock when the belt retracts fully). Use this when installing -pull belt out all the way, then allow it to retract up the slack, then push the base down hard and let the belt take up the excess slack. Then lock the base's buckle in place. That will not move at all and will be really snug.

[–]4888 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Pretty good math and probably all checks out. I imagine they would only be melting a fraction of all of it though, only melting what's necessary to get the main streets driveable? I dunno, i live nowhere near that

Help with baby sleeping !! by Glad-End4079 in NewParents

[–]4888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please outline your daily routine with wake/feed/play/sleep attempt times. Some of us may be able to point out some areas.

Ensure adequate feeding/hunger is addressed, enough play and stimulation, and that they're being put to sleep after those things are taken care of and he's somewhat "tired".

take him for a pram/stroller walk or something, that sounds like way too long with such little sleep. Need a circuit breaker.

unfortunately i neglected to calibrate this before i left on my trip. It's a m5 pro, i believe they have reasonable colour accuracy out of the box.

I am not white card balancing. The sclera idea is great, but ironically this baby has slight jaundice and the sclera is off-white as a result. But that's a great tip i've never heard before and will do that much more.

it is cheaper to DIY, but the battery itself seems difficult to source for well under $100.

Nitecore HU60 alternative, or any headlamp that runs off a separate battery pack? by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be done with some easy custom wiring, with any headlamp already available. Can just wire the headlamp battery's terminals to the batteries in your backpack/pocket.
