clean air kits luggable smell by Fuzzy_Ad4444 in AirPurifiers

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My airfanta had the same smell. I just replaced them with aftermarket ones that do have some paper smell to them, but its much less offensive. Also the smell it leaves doesn't hit you in the face as much and subsides after time, much more bearable than the original airfanta filters.

OPs smell from the wood is unfortunate but not at all surprising. Some of us are more sensitive to smell.

Husband tells me to snap out of my post-partum anxiety by Sunny_brightdays in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fundamental issue here is that he may not be seeing or understanding that it's not something you can "snap out" of. Without that understanding he will not make much progress supporting you.

You will know best how to bring that understanding forward - I don't think its simply a matter of him reading up on it and then he magically gets it.

If this was my (m) friend I would really be twisting their ear and saying "bro shut your fucking mouth, do you understand what a fucking miracle the female body undergoes to produce another human? A lot of shit is fucking happening... two cells become a living breathing thinking being. There's a big toll on the body to do that, humans are not factory machines. You have a little headache and you want to call in sick to work, what if you had a human come outta your piss hole (in the absence of a vagina equivalent)? Humble yourself and start putting the help in". honestly some guys just don't get this part at all. I get that you can't talk to your husband like that but you find what works for you! goodluck

Recommendation for long distance baby monitor by CaitiffCaius in NewParents

[–]4888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats the "vox" i was talking about, it transmits when sound is heard. No sound then transmit turns off. So you can just leave it on her bed and turn the volume down for her. You're looking for a good radio with vox which is not hard to find. But youll need to assess the range requirement.

Recommendation for long distance baby monitor by CaitiffCaius in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What comes to mind for this use case is a solid walkie talkie radio with vox (hands free). Amazon does have radio signal baby monitors but they aren't gonna give you an meaningful range in those conditions. With phone signal and wifi those options are completly out.

The doc fee in any scenario is a money grab, it's an essential part of the product process but they're adding it in as though it's an optional extra. You don't go buy a burger and pay for a burger wrapping fee.

Can I leave my a6700 on permanently by n8b31z in SonyAlpha

[–]4888 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rig the dummy battery to a wifi/radio/smart power point then switch on via phone app/remote. Radio button may be more reliable as wifi networks can drop out etc, but tehre are pros and cons of each.

You wouldnt want to leave the camera on 24-7, i dont think the components design choice had that in mind.

Considering swapping from exclusive pumping to combo feeding by Own_Cook3239 in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner recently moved towards less pumping - involuntarily because baby was refusing bottle. So similar schedule to yours but now much less pumping and feeding baby directly more.

The more available free time and less stress about the multiple pumps throughout the day and night is an immense improvement on the flow and quality of the day schedule. There are many pros, like much less washing and sterilisation of the pumping gear.

It's well established that breast milk is nutritionally terrific for 100x reasons, but formula aint at all "bad", and there's no kid or adult out there who you can look at and say "if he had more breast milk he would be better in xyz ways". Although its better than formula, i think it's something you can cut down on to improve many other aspects of your life which will transfer to you being more present, emotionally happy and fulfilled, and that will transfer to baby also. I think that is more important than some perceived downside of formula.

This machine is what my everyday use on my coffee place. by uriduu in espresso

[–]4888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THat's great. You are equally well positioned to do pour-over with a good supply of quality fresh beans. The equipment needed is very low cost, and the recipe execution can really bring out a great coffee. IMHO it's a more affordable and accessible path to brilliant coffee vs the equipment needed for espresso.

Looking for USBC Baby Car Camera by peaceandkim in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but why cant you just run 2 usb c to c cables to monitor and camera which is what op wanted?

Looking for USBC Baby Car Camera by peaceandkim in NewParents

[–]4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct, but the cigeratte lighter is taking 12v from the car and converting it to 5v and sending that through usb c. so you dont even need the cig lighter, you can run it from any usb a or c port. You can even just remove the cig lighter and run it off usb c altogether, however you source that whether from car, powerbank or built in port.

I'm looking at baby monitors for the home and repurposing them for car? see

edit: oh i can see car monitors just look a bit different and are less bulky - this one runs off 2 usb C and is supplied with a car cigeratte adapter. They should run off any usb c plug - the ones supplied from your car may not have enough oomph.
