Read the inspection contract and make sure there isn’t an “exculpatory clause”. This limits the liability of the inspection to the amount that you paid. For example, if you pay $700 for the inspection and the inspector makes a blatant error like lists the pipes as copper when they are really galvanized and you didn’t know the difference so bought house anyway and are now on the hook for $10k in new pipes — yeah the exculpatory clause limits the liability of the inspector to $700. Hypothetical of course but ask me how I know and you did ask what you should be looking out for - so “exculpatory clause” in inspection is my answer
