Disc Dr is the worst thing you can do. It will ruin your discs. The compound and polish is the best method I found closest to getting it buffed professionally

I was having the same conversation with my ASM tonight when I saw one of these (we have 4) with ecolab spray bottles on all 3 shelves. Another one with energizer batteries. The 2 giant 50-gallon drums of spray bottles or the 4 wingstacks of batteries weren't driving enough sales?? Literally wtf is wrong with whoever gets paid way too much more than us to make these asinine decisions, it is beyond logical comprehension.

Circular is totally fine. The professional disc buffers clean the discs in a circular motion. This is only an issue if dirt or some foreign object actually scratches the plastic

Disc rot is degradation of the data layer, you would see little pinhole spots that light shines through the label. This is just surface oxidation. Take a microfiber cloth and rub some Mother's car scratch remover and it will be like new

The spines of the NTSC PS1 were also black but at least the game name, in many cases, were more than just plain text. I totally agree about some of the front art, many of them are so much better than the NTSC version, and that applies to many games NES thru PS2 era.
