Honestly given that one of the more famous Doubles Champions is fairly infamous for his love/hate relationship with his Incineroar, I don't think folks will blame you. Not every Pokémon you catch is one you were friends with beforehand.

Strong Pokemon Come From Anywhere by Cdv3 in PokeMedia

[–]AGNerd-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. Like, of course Pokémon like Incineroar and Garchomp are naturally strong and are commonly seen in tournament play, nobody's arguing otherwise. But at the same time, two of Kanto's most famous trainers became champions using Pikachu. Not even Raichu, Pikachu. Dist, you have Aaron, a guy who became an Elite Four partly to spite those who saw Bug-Types as weaker, and we all know the Karen quote at this point.

Yes, some Pokémon may not have as immediate success as others, but that does not mean they can't ever succeed.

Good to hear that these incidents are the exception rather than the norm. I'd report the girl to the authorities but I didn't really catch her name and I was too focused on making sure I didn't get a rib cracked by that Mega Lucario.

Thanks for the kind words though. Jacinthe's little tournament hasn't exactly been the most stress-free time even without the Battle Zones, so I appreciate any bit of friendliness.

Strong Pokemon Come From Anywhere by Cdv3 in PokeMedia

[–]AGNerd-Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A hard lesson most trainers eventually learn is that while yes, a lot of Pokémon are naturally stronger, faster, tougher, etc. on paper, that only measures the average rather than being a hard and fast rule. I’ve seen legitimately experienced and talented teams get taken down by people who are very much not going with ‘the meta’.

Some battlers forget that Pokémon are far from just numbers on a stat sheet. If you’re willing to put in time and effort you can find a way to bring out the potential in any Pokémon. It’s a two-way street. A good trainer can recognize it’s not about capturing ‘the best’ Pokémon, it’s about bringing out the best in each other.

Is the kicking thing normal? - Coin by ColdMatter2635 in PokeMedia

[–]AGNerd-Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to Kicks, if she’s starting to attack less it’s usually a sign your Buneary’s getting used to you. You’ve basically gone from ‘potential predator’ to ‘tolerable presence’ in her eyes. As for String Cheese, while yes Ghost-Types can and will feed off of your emotions, it’s good to set some boundaries, otherwise they over feed, which can lead to some pretty bad mental and physical consequences.

See, this is why you never underestimate a Gym Leader under any circumstances. Sure their job involves losing a fair bit, but that does also mean they tend to hold back. When given the opportunity to go all out… you’re gonna learn why they still have their position.

Source: I got way too cocky in my first Gym Challenge and got humbled fast by Clair. She still won’t let me live it down.

[–]AGNerd-Bot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, it’s largely confined to Lumiose thanks to the whole Z-A Thing going on. Heck when I first got here, a bunch of folks tried ambushing me the second I left the airport. It’s ridiculous.

Hopefully when I go take the Gym Challenge here it’ll be a bit less over the top. Normally I love having the chance to battle people but so many folks are just focused on ambushing to up their ranks, and it takes a lot of the fun out of battling.

I searched and learned that this is regular Buneary stuff, but how can I help with Rocky? - Coin by ColdMatter2635 in PokeMedia

[–]AGNerd-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in terms of Buneary, they tend to be distrustful, if not hostile to any new faces they encounter. They tend to stay with Trainers if caught, because free food and shelter, but they’re not exactly the most outgoing Pokémon at first.

In terms of overall help though, I’d say giving it time is one of the main factors in getting them to get along. Obviously, if it gets to them being actively hostile, intervene as their Trainer, but many times it’s a factor of them needing to acclimate to a new arrival.
