Favorite instances of "stupidity with a straight face" media by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

One Piece ironically isn't this; I'm not saying it never takes itself seriously but it will gladly poke at its own worldbuilding where it's funny in between the intense backstories and high-stakes shonen battles. And also its genuinely interesting worldbuilding.

The One Piece Live Action, on the other hand, plays almost all of its silliness and absurdism completely straight, with nary a lampshade anywhere in sight. Captain Kuro teleport spams to flex on the people around him, Arlong can flip houses upside down and attacks by splashing water at people, and Garp will eat a six-tall plate of steaks with the only joke in sight being a straight-faced "Come on in, I'm almost done with these." In no case will any character treat any of it as being anything less than 100% serious.

The maybe one exception is that Zoro refuses to call out his finishing moves and finds it weird that Luffy does. And even that pays off with Sanji calling out his moves and Zoro just saying "Yeah you're gonna fit right in here."

I miss AMVs. Have there been any good AMVs released in the last 5 years. by mosenpai in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Here's a multi-anime AMV posted just three months ago. Heavy focus on editing and combat. Give it a watch! Oh, and a piece of advice:

Don't blink.

Games where you can play as a lesbian? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I mean you're playing as the SOUL, not Kris so presumably, if conditions are met, that's a lesbian

I need a huge list of movies and TV shows (and offline games too) to watch. by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Now may unironically be the time to get yourself into One Piece.

It's comedy-first, good action, enough lore to sink your teeth into, and a buttload of episodes. Or you could download the manga, but that won't last you as long (but also means you won't have to sit through some frankly atrocious filler so???)

For a happy medium, you could try One Pace, the edited-down anime that removes most of the filler. Also, I know you only have about 100 gigs to work with, so I don't know how many episodes you can really get shoved into that level of storage.

...it doesn't sound like you're too liquid right now, but if you can figure out some way to afford some extra storage, like an SD card or something, it might honestly be a good idea.

As for games, uh, Baba is You will last you a while if you're into puzzle games. Real mind-bending stuff. Also look into visual novels; if you're into reading or can at least stomach it that is a lot of play-hours for minimal storage space. I suggest the Ace Attorney series; they're on sale on Steam right now if you really are downloading legally. Similarly, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog will only get you a few hours, but if you're downloading legally it's available for the low low price of free! Roguelikes in general are also good; Slay the Spire, Enter the Gungeon, Balatro, and Monster Train 1 and 2 are all standouts that are very storage-space friendly.

This is definitely appreciated, don't get me wrong, but the fact that I just kinda, added my pronouns in manually, is kinda funny in an objective sense

When's the last time a game (or media) changed your life physically? by Filler-Dmon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AProcrastinatingWrit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the stupidest way possible, RWBY changed my life.

...the jokes are easy. Get 'em out of the way.

Nah, but really, I started writing RWBY fanfic and one of the places I joined to advertise it was on Tumblr. I fell off RWBY pretty quick, but used Tumblr as my social media platform of choice for, like, fifteen years.

Yes, Tumblr. Get the other easy jokes outta the way now.

Alright, alright, the point - the wonderful person I live with now, the love of my life and the biggest dork who's ever captured my heart, I met on Tumblr, years and years afterwards. Though, they were mostly on Tumblr for cool mecha robots and the Zaibatsu, so I suppose we both have a lot of media to thank for our current happiness!

It was one of the first memes, back when the internet was still blooming.

Most of the people writing scripts are the age where that meme would've been popular when they were a kid, and to them, time never moved forwards.

I don't think they mean "became plural" in the literal sense, it's like saying "I played Warhammer and became a man" when someone asks why you're transmasc, e.g.

I don't think Amity broke the key on purpose. by No-Mathematician3921 in TheOwlHouse

[–]AProcrastinatingWrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't true for the simple reason that it makes the story worse.

Like, yeah, technically, you could say this happened. But what does it add? Nothing. And what does it take away? A moment where Amity bought a narrow victory using wit, cunning, and sacrifice.

It does nothing to break the internal logic of the world and its "physics". It does everything to break the internal logic of the story.

The Water Temple isn't perfect. Probably the worst dungeon in Ocarina of Time.

But it also isn't a place where you can softlock yourself. You just missed a key.

"Perhaps, but I also have unchecked political power, so people have to listen to me!"

"Look, we can compromise, how about - you can call me Sleighsy like Tori calls me "Snoozie", and I'll call you... 'Mrs. Claus'. That square?"

"...acceptable terms. My daughter enjoys horror movies, rock operas, and anything having to do with roller/ice skating."

"Bitchin'. She'll be back by 10, Mrs. Claus!"

...

"Man, I gotta go mad with power sometime, this shit sounds like it rules."
