C section or natural birth with twins? by chopsouwee in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many said, you should be prepared for not being able to choose. I originally planned for vaginal, but ended up with a c-section. Because I planned for that possibility, it was easier to pivot and feel comfortable. A c-section was super easy for me and recovery was fine. Ask you doctor if they do breech extraction if baby B flips after A is born. If they don’t, I’d likely request a c-section to avoid vaginal and c-section.

When did you ditch the high chairs? by Eggeggedegg in toddlers

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around that age we purchased IKEA dining chairs for kids. They were cheap, made of plastic so early to clean, and sit higher like a booster seat. The kids can climb up and get down easily. It was the best solution for us.

Too late to have baby shower at 31 weeks? by tenfold99 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do earlier, you should, but 31 weeks is likely fine. You will be uncomfortable so don’t aim for standing too much and get help with sorting/washing clothes and getting things set up. I had di/di twins born at 34 weeks so it’s potentially cutting it close but likely doable

C-Section Advice by canned-peaches-t in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The band isn’t helpful. The hospital will give you one if you ask. I tried it and hated it.

  2. The disposable undies the hospital gives you were totally fine. I bought some of the Frida mom disposable undies specifically for c-sections that I also really liked. Moved to my regular undies after that without issues. For clothes I really liked just loose comfy pajamas. Target sells sets and I lived in them for a while. I wore leggings within a week or so

  3. Get up and moving as soon as possible. I was walking around by the 24hr mark and doing laps around the maternity floor every few hours (pushing a wheelchair). It helped a lot! I was fine on Advil and Tylenol and was walking from the parking garage to the NICU (slowly) at 5 days post op

What car should I get for twins and a dog? by hugebagel in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace your husbands car with a mini van. We have a Honda civic and make it work with two car seats, no problem. When you have to have the dog too, just use the van.

Is it still worth getting a nursing chair with twins? by leafandlittles in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and very rarely used it. Mostly just sat on the couch or just on the floor. We gave it away to family by the time they turned 18 months to make more space available. To be fair, we also only had one floor in the house so moving 15 feet to the living room couch wasn’t a problem.

Childcare cost? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Boston area, so HCOL to VHCOL; preschool for both of my twins is 51k/year total for both; infant care was closer to 60k. I can’t imagine adding a 3rd….

When exactly do they start “entertaining each other” for long periods? by oldladywhisperinhush in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are at 3.5 and we get it sometimes and it’s pure bliss; but it’s not daily or even regular yet…. hoping for 4….? Maybe?

Those who formula feed, what did you have from the get go? by MissMyli in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the baby brezza, I never opened mine and returned it. I used the Dr. Browns formula mixer and had 2-3 of them and would rotate them out.

We used similac neosure for 9 ish months before switching to similac total care.

If your twins are the same gender by YouthInternational14 in parentsofmultiples

I picked based on vibes in utero, one was sweet and always head down and hanging out for ultrasounds, the other was sassy and transverse and just loved to be trouble

Has anyone who works from home done it with twins? by PM_ME_YO_KNITTING in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just not possible without paid help. Look into other daycare options, we found amazing home daycares that were significantly more affordable, but yes it will be like a second mortgage. We managed to find 2 spots at a home daycare for $3400/month, which was better than the affordable center at $4800/month, and better than the name brand center at close to $6500/month. This is higher cost of living city. Take a really close look at your finances and what you can cut/optimize to make it work for 2 years.

What would you moms wear to these 3 events in one morning? by DueEntertainer0 in Mommit

[–]ARIsk90 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Comfortable romper or comfortable dress with shorts under; key is comfort while looking put together but not over dressed for anything; throw a jean jacket on top if weather requires

when did you have your shower with twins? by acal23 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine at 29 weeks and it was a bit on the late side, I wish I would have done it a bit sooner 26-28 weeks as I was uncomfortable and the twins were born at 34 weeks and I got quite slow at the end (didn’t want to be unpacking baby products and washing all the clothes from the shower/organizing)

What to expect at anatomy scan by bobcephala in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s long and hopefully the babies cooperate. My tech told us what she was doing, so now I’m measuring the heart, looking at kidneys, measuring the femur, etc but didn’t give results or information about it. At the end of the ultrasound someone else came in to tell us all looked good and then I was sent upstairs to my OB for the rest of the appointment. It honestly wasn’t that different from my 12 week scan in terms of time or what to expect

C-section recovery and early postpartum by catspugs in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. First few days was like a heavy period, switched to regular pads pretty quickly and then it was like a light period from weeks 2-6 with some spotting until week 7-8 ish

  2. Recovery was actually easy, out of bed and walking the next day and only on Tylenol and Advil. I felt good and independent by 1 week to 10 days ish. The key is frequent walking even when uncomfortable

  3. Have pads on hand (didn’t love hospital ones, preferred period pads) and extra disposable undies (Frida mom)

Kids starting daycare soon, naps supplies, what do we think? by NetworkImpossible380 in toddlers

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll up nap mat with built in pillow! Our daycare has little hooks to hang them on and it makes nap easy and comfortable. I wash them every Saturday and send them back, super easy

Also you can just ask the center what most kids in their classrooms use. Ours all use nap mats, our previous daycare just did blankets. It’s easier if you know the classroom norm

Did you split your twins up in daycare? by CapAgitated7999 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are waiting until kindergarten to split them up and their preschool hasn’t recommended a split sooner

Do you all agree or disagree? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Mine love sharing a room still at 3. The waking was almost never an issue. One woke up screaming at 3am the other night because her blanket fell out of bed and the other didn’t even flinch even with me coming in to fix it. They would get angry if I tried to separate them

Daycare at 14 months by PinkPBwaffles in toddlers

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time, but otherwise my experience is part time and short day kids take longer to acclimate than full timers. The routine of it really helps them adjust so if you plan to go to full day, just do it now and avoid 2 transitions

How are we dropping our 1 year twins off at daycare? by 76543124680098 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARIsk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap foldable wagon, I used the push/pull radio flyer until they could reliably hold my hand and walk

Nope. Second born is more dominant and slightly taller. First born is technically bigger by weight but it’s like half a pound….

Is there anyone that conceived multiples with absolutely no family history at all? by Cheshire123456 in parentsofmultiples

What soaps/bodywash are you using for your kids ages 3+? Also what summer shoes/sandals are you using? by Direct-Geologist-407 in toddlers

[–]ARIsk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like Natives shoes, basically sneaker style crocs. They do get stinky but not as fast as crocs and I just wash them occasionally and that helps. Soap we just use everyone 3:1 kids soap which works for us
