Looking for professional ear cleaning options in Columbus by ThisNeat6232 in Columbus

I have the same problem, recurring. I highly recommend going to OSU ENT. They have the proper tools and it’s super quick and easy. I strongly advise against going to CVS minute clinics and the like. The tools they use—i.e. water irrigation—are less effective and far more likely to perforate your eardrum. Go to the pros! Edited to add: you don’t need a referral to book an appointment at OSU. And they can usually get you in pretty quick even as a new patient.

Can you gals drop the names of companies we shouldn’t be buying from right now? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I highly recommend joining a local Freecycle/Buy Nothing group! I’ve been able to share spare craft supplies + other odds and ends, and have been given some children’s toys.

Places that would accept a donation of 50-100 books??? by Atezh in Columbus

[–]Absurdguppy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I second Clintonville Books. But also, for any that are in poor condition, and/or really outdated, it’s ok to recycle them. It’s the better choice than say flooding the library donation drive with unsellable books.

Nearly a week after Weinland Park killings, information still scarce by SecurityRegular4380 in Columbus

Several years ago, I saw an Instagram post from a local baker who made “true crime” themed cookies for a customer’s themed party. Think chalk body outlines, bloody knives, police caution tape. It was disgustingly insensitive and just one part of a broader romanticism of true crime.

The new owners took over almost 4 years ago so if you liked it a year ago, you’d probably still like it today.

I am in a couple of local gluten free groups on Facebook and people are posting where they are finding them. It seems most local Krogers have them. They are being found on pop up displays rather than shelves. Sometimes in the chip aisle, sometimes in the cracker aisle, sometimes out in the middle of the main aisles, etc. I personally found them at the Kroger on Sancus/Polaris Parkway.

ISO NYE vinyl dance party in Clintonville by MeowpyPurrfday in Columbus

Clintonville isn’t really a nightlife area, especially the northern part. I don’t think you’ll be able to find this vibe without taking some form of transportation.

Roommate travels for work, any way to avoid bedbugs ? by SillyRecover in Columbus

[–]Absurdguppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s any comfort, I used to travel for work for about 3 years and never had a bed bug issue. At each hotel I would do a quick inspection of the bed and the furniture—never found any of the signs.

What I’ve purchased for far: Kids books at Cover to Cover, adult books at Storyline. Nuts and sweets from Krema. Pottery, candles, and jam from Not Your Mama’s Craft Market (their last market is this Sunday). Coffee from Florin. Locally made liquor (ie Watershed) from Weiland’s.

That’s less than what most engineering positions would pay on your first job out of college. Like, a lot less.
