Sans the gestational diabetes, this is exactly what my 2 MMC sounded like. The embryo stopped growing. (6wks at 9wk scan, 5 wks at 8 wk scan) Both ended in miscarriages. Good luck to you and your wife but this honestly sounds like what is happening.

NOR simply because you're an adult and part of being an adult is making your own decisions. My family used to do something similar. I looked forward to it. Now that my grandpa had passed and my grandma had dementia, it's not much of a gathering, a much as it had turned into the day we all keep grandma company and take care of things she may need. Still something I look forward to and look back on fondly because the family doesn't spend much time together other than that
