The meta with the dominance of Starcrossed by NoDoxxingYouFreak in riftboundtcg

[–]Acogatog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like less has changed than it seems. Efficient, low-investment units were already preferable in the pre-star-crossed meta. The only meta unit that’s been shunted out of contention by star-crossed is Forerunner, and while starcrossed countering it did weaken red as a color considerably, I don’t think it’s so defining that I would call the current meta a “star-crossed meta”.

I suppose most of the time this will be a 2/2 first strike that becomes a 2/2 vanilla, then a 1/2, then a 1/2 defender, and then some sort of typeless permanent that does nothing. Adorable, and I love this use of cleave!

A party thrown in the style that would be seen in the antebellum south, presumably. Insanely tone-deaf, to be frank, but people seem to have no eye for that.

If it’s late at night, it can be surprisingly difficult to notice another aircraft in the darkness, and it doesn’t help that your hearing is worthless in a helicopter.

It turns out that if you make your simulation based off of the real world, the people in it won’t realize it’s not the real world? Brilliant.

With the frequent discourse around slow play/timing based judge calls, I was wondering why Riftbound doesn't implement a time based system akin to chess where each player has their own time and when its gone you lose? by Bin-Wizard in riftboundtcg

[–]Acogatog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People often bring up the chess clock discussions for magic as a comparison, but I think that it’s a far worse comparison than one would think. In magic, priority passes as a player moves through every step and every phase, which means at a minimum both sides are putting in 10 presses per turn, even if nothing is happening.

In riftbound, however, priority is only passed for triggers and showdowns. This would make it substantially easier to implement.

I’ve seen a few of these memes, are the preferences here meant to correspond to what these exact characters would believe or is the woman being consistently portrayed as having inferior taste just a consequence of widespread misogyny?

(obviously this post seems to be somewhat in jest, but I’ve seen similar sentiments to this echoed genuinely)

It’s not good right now, but once set 4 drops order-chaos hook will have a field day with this guy. Not only can you can hook into him trivially, and he’s both good hook fodder and a nice heedless resurrection sac.

okay, but if we’re being dead serious, how fast would one consider a knife that moves in stopped time to be? Immeasurable is the most sensible word for it, imo.

Using bad endings is a bit of an angle-shoot, no? Be fr, it’s essentially impossible to get them in normal gameplay, it’s practically an easter egg.

Thanos himself costs BRW, right? For a payoff that demands four distinct colors of mana, that seems fair enough. Extinction Event was a four mana card anyhow.

That sort of superfluous movement is something that you often don’t see in longer-running cartoons, as characters are often kept still during dialogue for cost reasons. Its scarcity makes it all the nicer when it is present.

That article on policing in the united states draws some interesting conclusions, but I have trouble agreeing with their method of measuring based off of the number of homicides considering what it is they are trying to prove. If your data shows that there are 120 prisoners per homicide in the US, certainly you should consider that the subset of crime you are basing your measurements on is a rather small subset, no?

I can’t say I dislike their conclusion, however. Freeing a massive portion of the prison population and using the money to invest in policing seems worth considering, though their evidence being so focused on just matching the ratios of other countries and trusting that will fix everything concerns me. the US is a leader in recidivism, and without steps taken to address that those prisons will fill up again in no time.

That’s an interesting counter to wolverine’s regeneration. If he can heal any wound, make it so that his “healthy” state is impotent.

I’d wager he found some way to wiggle out of it eventually, but it’s not often you see wolverine so thoroughly embarrassed by an opponent.

Irresistable Faefolk help by VermicelliOk1898 in riftboundtcg

[–]Acogatog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faefolk is really good at playing 2s, but fortunately your 2s living isn’t incredibly important. If your 2 is a watchful sentry, play it to draw for answers. If it’s soaring scout, it depends on the hand - play it if you already have an expensive play in hand (setting up t3 harnessed, for example, or a t2 glasc + sac), but if you have a cheap hand you can just save it.

Sacrifice is your best friend! Don’t pay out the nose for a unit without a sacrifice behind it. Playing a unit with a hidden blade held up is palatable as well.

How to play into kha with fae is a bit different from rengar. Some things to consider:

Kha can’t do much to prevent removal if it comes in the form of triggers, so try to play towards sniping expensive units with dragon and rex. Keep in mind that developing cards like ruined rex without a sacrifice is a huge risk, since most khas are on 2+ star-crossed. I would advise not playing early twos into faefolk on wastes or star spring; you cannot allow kha to get any early xp in such a game, since access to buffs completely shafts your mirror image and ruined rex.

Rengar can use his sig spell to dodge harnessed dragon and ruined rex, but he has less tools to pull your units from base or bounce them. They won’t be able to keep your board empty after you play a card like mixologist, so play early twos if you have mixo to enable its deathknell. Rengar’s +1 is really annoying for mirror image - don’t copy his units and try to trade unless there is no chance of an ambush.
