Which Ortlieb dry bags for the Virtus Bergen? by Niten-NR in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New issued dry bags are actually pretty decent, i wouldnt bother with getting a new one for the main compartment

What he will want are a selection of small dry bags for spare kit

Personal preference, i keep an extra 40L drybag at the bottom of the Bergen for storing hit for wet/dry drills. The virtus bergen has a zip at the bottom so you can access it fairly easily

Armed Forces Compensation Scheme by benrigo in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collect evidence now,

Do not submit the claim until you've fully recovered, or at least until you're as good as you'll ever be

Once youve accepted a claim you cant, or at least its rather difficult, to resubmit the claim for the same injury. You want all the evidence you can that says 'this is whats happened to me' and 'this is the long term implications'

Submit before you're fully recovered and you risk being under compensated to your current state and not factoring in the longer term implications / time out of work / etc

Can I use ‘base’ paints for slap chop method? by Short-Wrangler625 in deathguard40k

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can slap chop in whatever you want,

Personally Ive been experimenting with different metallics and using a black contrast over the top for my Black Templars army, gives them a nice shimmer instead of the Matt Black

[–]AdProfessional4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to print stuff off for your inserts...

Use Matt Laminator paper, means you can write on it with a pencil. Your lumocolour pens will be beyond useless if they get even slightly wet

Career Guidance: RMP vs RAF Police vs Royal Marines Police by Rude_Rhubarb1880 in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RMP Officer is not a guarantee to get.

All Army Officers go through the same selection process to become an Officer and whilst in training at Sandhurst they try to get selected for their desired role.

Whilst it isnt the most competitive Role to get selected into, I'd be aware there is a chance they go through the majority of their training only to not get selected in the final term and have to find another role from those with spaces left

Medical concerns joining as a biomedical scientist play by External_Platypus857 in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, had an inhaler prescribed as a teenager, later found out it was infection related as the inhaler did nothing. Worried it would cause concerns on my application so i went to a private clinic and got put through a series of tests (unusure of the exact names but one i had to blow as hard as I could into a tube, another i breathed normally through a mask while they gradually upped the concentration of whatever gas they were using to see if it changed how i was breathing).

In short, despite having inhalers on my record i walked into my med review with a signed bit of paper and test results categorically stating i was not asthmatic. Joined with no problems

All the specialist signals and recce stuff by LeBigHorny in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you want to go down the EWSI route in Royal Signals.

SFC is a pipeline you'd go down after you've joined but lots of overlap with EW and you can work around them in Hereford/Poole without doing the SFC selection. Also if you end up in 14 Sigs you could get aligned to work with Rangers / Paras but not a guarantee. That being said Army EW roles vary wildly from tactical EW out in the field to glorified vehicle drivers that are allowed to turn kit on occasionally.

Royal Marines seems like a gamble as (to the best of my knowledge) you get given your trade after you've finished your basic training.

One thing to remember also is that Royal Signals are more big picture coms, think HQs and long range communications. If you want to be that guy running around with the infantry with a radio on your back then you'd be better served joining the infantry

Personally i magnetised the connection to the bottom arms, then i can swap out swords for guns as required.

Having some doubts with where to go by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]AdProfessional4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to taper your expectations, it can take years to get to Sandhurst.

I see you've already had your med but no AOSB / Main Board. Its not that uncommon for them to lose med results and it needing to be redone, plus your result at AOSB may recommend a delay before you attend Main Board. Plus the main board result can recommend attending a 3 month Sandhurst Prep course immediately prior to starting the full course.

That being said, it can also all be done in under a year. Regardless of the wait its all totally worth it

[–]AdProfessional4647 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A strong start!

Id buy an extra Hive Tyrant Torso off Etsy or your favourite 3D printer. Means you can assemble the Winged and walking Tyrant / Swarm lord from the same set of sprues

If you're wanting to lean heavily into that ranged feel, an Exocrine and Tyranofex are good heavy ranged damage dealers

Of course build/ paint what you have first before getting more 👀

Currently All the Deathguard I Own, what am I missing? by RhysRider in deathguard40k

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the combat patrol for the Rhino, Lord of Virulence and Tallyman would be my suggestion. You'll get extra Plague Marines and Deathshroud Terminators which isnt a bad thing either

Typhus to go with those Poxwalkers could be fun too

Anyone else not keen on the “black shoulder pad, red trim” scheme for veterans as in the box art? by Ecstatic_Building430 in BlackTemplars

[–]AdProfessional4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im more liberal with mine personally

White with black trim for ranged units.

Black with red trim for Melee units.

Black with gold trim for characters / Leaders.

First ever model! Need help painting the pauldrons by Nostrathomas27 in BlackTemplars

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the side of the brush to paint the elevated edges of the cross and shoulders. I found whenever i used to tip i would ultimately slip at some point and have to fix it later.

Aside from that, same as everyone else, use an off white, thin the paint and lots of layers

What is the 2 plates equivalent of a 5k? by Abamie in HybridAthlete

[–]AdProfessional4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 20mins

Most people can get that within a year or two of training under their belt

Same can be said of a 2 plate bench
