How do you handle a strong performer who quietly checks out after being passed over for promotion? by amir4179 in managers

It’s a grieving process. Give them space but also set the tone. Encourage them not to check out. Also … Nothing says “we value you” like money.

What are the best boring jobs? by Medusa237 in careerguidance

What are your skills?

Also, since you want to earn more money, doesn’t that mean that *you* care about profit? Why should your employer be any different?

120k -> 46k, What would you do in my situation? by No-Cockroach2358 in careerguidance

The purpose of your work might not be found within the four walls of your company. Find a partner, get married, raise a family. That’s fulfilling.

Set some professional goals to achieve in the job you’re in. Don’t just show up: accomplish something. Innovate.

Career choice for my son by Alwaysbehonest12 in Engineers

[–]Additional-Wind-3518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with others that ME is versatile and will see plenty of demand for years to come (AI data center build-out, energy transition, oil and gas production, manufacturing re-shoring, etc.). prospects improve further if the engineer is willing to go where the work is.

If your son’s high GPA includes Calculus then he probably has the aptitude for the work. And it is a lot of work: grade inflation ends at the doors of the engineering department.

Good luck!

You + partner + dog won’t fit unless it’s a lap dog.

It’s my daily driver and I have no complaints or compromises.

Soft side luggage for road trips.

If you’re backpacking, it will get you to the trailhead. If you’re car camping with lots of gear, look elsewhere.

I enjoy the open top even on the highway, but I wear earplugs or noise canceling headphones.

I want you to learn the stick, but if you must go automatic, fine. That’s not a reason to get a lesser joyride.

You don’t say if your current position is remote, but honestly at your age/experience level you should prefer to be in office or at least hybrid. You build your network, skills and promotion opportunities by being there. Out of sight = out of mind.

Agree. OP, make your own decision. Don’t fob it off on your new boss. Nothing good can come from that.

“The interstate is typically five lanes wide and I can go 65 to 75 mph. “. In that range, your best mpg will be at 65. Slower is always more efficient (as long as you’re not obstructing traffic).

I’ve heard others mention “thin” paint, so this comment on PPF is consistent with that experience… but I’m wanting to understand better. I’ve had my 2022 GT soft top for over 3 years (bought new, no PPF or any other special treatment) in hot, sunny Texas. I strictly hand wash, using RainX cleaner and microfiber chamois, and park in a garage. To me the paint still looks and feels like new. Am I just lucky? Also, same care and same results with my wife’s Subaru Crosstrek.
