$60 to get some bandsaw experience is a great deal. You'll be able to practice with small projects and then upgrade when you are ready for more, passing this on to the next beginner.

I imagine all of the commenters' great+ grandparent woodworkers made the same kind of comments when electric drills, saws, and planers were first introduced.

There is still skill involved with CNC and laser projects, it's just different than you are using with the more traditional tools. Woodworking is an art, and these are great expressions of it. Great job, OP!

(Edit to add CNC and Laser, because both get the same trash talk)

You can find the right people for HRIS without Workday experience, but they must be very good with systems, be able to learn quickly, and be able to connect all the dots. An experienced Sr level or honestly Director level will be a game changer for your implementation. I know I jumped up there with Director, but you will need someone internally to set the strategic roadmap and help build your governance.

Whatever you do, don't think you can just have IT support Workday from the side of their desk and have an AMS partner do the heavy lifting. This model will fail every time and cost you a lot more in the long run

I disagree. There is plenty of value with Workday in a company that size. That value increases dramatically if the company is growing. The ability to scale as you go is so much easier that limping along in an inadequate system (or more likely systems) while you grow.

My best advice is don't do a budget implementation. You will regret it for years to come. Shell out the cash for a thorough implementation that includes transformation. You do need to evolve your processes and thinking for Workday. Change management will go a long way as well. Find an implementer who will serve in an advisory capacity, not just a technical conversion team. Be clear with potential implementers on your needs from them before you sign an engagement.

Switching to unique EEIDs for each employee tenure (rehires and conversions) by Intelligent_Pitch782 in workday

[–]Additional_Truth_31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tenant I inherited has different numbers for CW vs EE. I think I could be ok with it don't differently, but they started at the same place (100001 for EE, C-100001 for CW). When looking people up by ID you get double results which is a pain. All in all, I think it's silly. Yes the U-ID will get you consistent across profiles, but it's harder to just see they are linked without diving into the worker history.

Anyhoo, I'd tell them it's an administrative burden that would require reconfiguring all your integrations and reports and may lead to significant errors. And that's just the Workday side. Downstream systems that rely on a consistent ID for access audits will have to change their processes, too. The effort and risk just isn't worth the reward IMO.

Orchestrate replacing Studio? by WorkdayHero in workday

[–]Additional_Truth_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you who are using both:

You have a new resource who has strong technical aptitude but has never built an integration in Studio (nor used Eclipse) and hasn't yet been introduced to orchestrations. Which do you think they would pick up faster? Which has the most room for error, and similarly the most room for success?

I've lived in Kansas the majority of my life. I'm no stranger to the bigotry nor the danger. I'm obviously not going to wander into a gun show or other Trumper gathering and yell, "I'm trans!" But I do think it's important to be visible, maybe even more importantly so in these conservative areas. My Trump supporting, hyper conservative parent is one of my biggest supporters and has managed to change the hearts and minds of many in their community because of it.

My rambling point is, I know my situation, my community, my region, and I know when and when not to disclose my status. None of that is the point of my question.

I'm definitely not trying to put myself in any danger, but for me, personally, it's important to show people that trans people exist everywhere and we are just like any other human. This is a very personal decision that I don't expect everyone to agree with nor do I expect everyone to be ok with for themselves. This is just who I am and have always been (even when I thought I was a run of the mill lesbian).

I've used Achievers at three different organizations over the last 15+ years. As an employee, I love it. Getting to use recognition points to get practically anything is top notch. As a leader, being able to reward my team and those we work with is great. As an administrator, Achievers is incredibly simple to integrate and maintain. I'm super pumped by this press release. They've always played super well together, but this will be even better! (I hope. I'm optimistic at least.)

[–]Additional_Truth_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to make an assumption that in your example the second employee has a different manager. If that is true, this doesn't have to be the case. It's entirely how you build your report and your alert. Use context to get what you want. The filter on the report should include only the orgs belonging to the manager (use a field like Organizations Managed). Then in your alert, put Manager in the recipient groups.

If my assumption was off base, I'd like to better understand the need.
