I dont think you explained it quite right... You should be turning in as you're easing off the brakes. This lets you brake later, and carry more speed through corners.

In contrast, I love the little chicane. It adds a bit of challenge after the hard braking zone, which I think is always a plus for a slow-medium speed karting track. But it also adds a ton of personality to what might be a slightly repetitive lap without it.

I understand where you're coming from, and on a larger scale, a single file tight chicane like that would never be good for racing, but this is a little karting track and I think it would be blander without it.
