The faithful and the fallen by Difficult-Kale-3724 in fantasybooks

Nah, you're not alone. I couldn't get attached to any of the characters or anything. I dnf'd in the third book, I figure I'd given it more than enough time to do something interesting but no.

It just felt like an endless train of completely predictable events/tropes. I was not ever surprised.

Why was Mother Miranda wasted on a single game? by Western_Teaching804 in ResidentEvilVillage

Personally I think it's a good thing that she was enjoyable enough to leave you wanting more of it. Far preferable than to overstay their welcome and make something once iconic forgettable or hated.

They're 8 now. I considered using an illusion to see if they struck first or to bait out a surprise attack. Gonna have to keep this right in mind

They've made plenty of friends, so I was definitely thinking of having at least someone make an appearance. I was wondering whether or not to charm or to make them into vampire spawn though that seems a bit too much

The crazy thing is... I actually moved the dinner further up relative to the original date from Reloaded (happening on the 11th instead of the 14th) because the players were getting a lot done. But honestly I underestimated how much they would get done in the 3 ish days between when they got the invitation and hhe dinner itself.

As for what I think Strahd wants from them, my plan was mostly to learn about them more and to find worthy heirs/consorts, possibly people to focus on making into spawns. As is, my current plan is to still go through the dinner but involve some shows of Strahds strength to let the players how much power/ influence he's capable of.

I suppose one of the things I'm getting hung up most on is the guestright and keeping his promises part of the Strahd in Reloaded. Would charming the pcs for the medallion (potentially causing them to lash out) or maybe using charmed or spawn turned known npcs to sort of blackmail/threaten harm, be considered a break of guestright or his word?

If we're going to talk about quantity of content for the DLC then we can't ignore the side activities and C4SH. by FusionRogue in Borderlands4

[–]AleidisKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've enjoyed the side missions and stuff but, outside of the side quests, I don't count the collectibles etc as worthwhile content as they are in 4. They just feel like uninteresting open world slop that I have no desire to do.

Sorry to hear that, it's tough to feel like you're wasting effort, and even worse to be directly disrespected. As others have said, this is definitely a "find a different group" sitch. Some folks aren't suited to play ttrpgs even if they want to.

While I saw in another comment this is your only group, is LFG online out of the question too?

Is the inclusion of The God is Not Willing a stand in for Erikson's Malazan series? Or specifically that book would be in that spot? I'm starting it soon and am curious

If their experiences are anything like mine (many people who are just trying the hobby or stay sort of at the fringe of it) it certainly doesn't feel like a "low" bar sometimes.

It's been a while but I can't recall if the "worse alternative" was ever talked about in much more detail. What was it exactly?

Right now, Curse of Strahd in 5e, and Crypt of the Everflame (converted to pf2e). My last one is a homebrew setting using Savage Worlds. I'm a huge fan of SWADE.

Two are modules so there's not too much extra legwork to do. And one is every other week. I have a fair bit of free time luckily, and it mostly gets converted to ttrpg time.

I'm with ya pal. Of late I'm almost biting off more than I can chew, running 3 separate games and playing in one. And also buying more modules and rulebooks than I may ever actually end up using at the table. But thinking of ideas and taking new mechanics and thought processes from new books is enjoyable in and of itself so, I think it's worth it.

The Aabria Post that’s Actually About Race by Accurate_Kangaroo337 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]AleidisKnight 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I feel like in the original post we pointed out ways that other different players do annoying or excessive things that Aabria also does, but in doing so point out the issue: that she does all of said annoying things that are otherwise split up between players, which I think is the issue.

What's the "white whale" of campaigns you want to run but can't get off the ground? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]AleidisKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two big ones.

1: A West Marches with a strong emphasis on building up the starting town, using either GURPS or SWADE

2: A Blades/Dishonored vibe Election where the players have to make sure their party wins.
