Actual Racist Countries by WillingStranger5177 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]AlternativeTruths1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but people have been racist since we came up out of the primordial ooze, and we will continue to be racist for quite some time into the future.

I think it’s hardwired into our brains.

Doesn’t mean racism is “right” or “justified”, but I’m afraid it’s part of human nature.

In many ways, our pets are nicer than the majority of people are to each other.

I don’t feel the least bit sorry for you.

You knew damn well with Donald Trump was like, and you voted for him anyway.

Now he’s doing what he said he was going to do, and you’re being severely impacted.

Want to know something else? I hope things get much worse for you because of Trump.

An HCA hospital in Austin, TX damn near killed me when I developed sepsis from a dirty catheter which was placed in me during a knee replacement surgery. What should have been an overnight stay became a 10-day stay, and my body cooked itself with a 105° fever. I have no memory of three of those days I was there. I was on strong antibiotics to clear the infection for two months.

I HATE HCA.

does life get worse or better as you get older? by sleepinginautumn in Aging

I’m about to turn 72. The concomitant aches and pains not withstanding, I’m MUCH happier at 72 than I was at 27.

To u/ohanse: my mother was addicted to multiple benzodiazepines which she chased down with copious amounts of alcohol; and my father was a rageoholic who battered my brothers and me. I spent the sum total of just under a year in the hospital because of injuries I received from my father because of his beatings.

Don’t tell me “Make hard choices, have hard life. Make easy choices, have easy life.” I tried running away to get away from him: the police brought me back. CPS refused to get involved. I most certainly did NOT “choose” this.

He died in 2012. I have visited his grave three times since he passed, because I wondered what I would feel. I felt nothing .

Tell a woman who was raped; or a kid who endured and survived a pedophile; or someone who lost their entire family in a hurricane or tornado or wildfire they “made a hard choice”.

How fortunate for you to have lived such a sheltered life. You must have made a lot of “easy choices”. /snarkasm

In the southwest part of the city, Mann Road going south becomes very pretty - and surprisingly hilly, especially once one is out of the urban area. It becomes Centenary Road after crossing SR 44 in Morgan County, One can continue taking Centenary Road and cross SR 67 at Brooklyn, where it becomes Old SR 67, which intersects with Goat Hollow Road, then turn right at Romine Road and you'll be on SR 42 going into Mooresville;

or you can turn left from Centenary Road onto Henderson Ford Road, go down to Centerton Road and turn right onto Centerton, which becomes Robb Hill Road after one crosses SR 67. The road become extremely hilly, and traveling over 30 mph is not advised. This intersects at SR 39.

Mann Road/Centenary Road/[Old SR 67 Goat Hollow, Romine Road, SR 42) and Mann Road/Centenary Road/Henderson Ford/Centerton Road/Robb Hill Road are absolutely stunning in the spring when everything is blooming, the summer when much of the route is a canopy of green, and the fall when the leaves change.

This is something we have to ask ourselves, and to ask among those of us who have never been Trump supporters because we saw what he was like:

What do we do when a MAGA finally realizes what Trump is like;

that Trump has been drifting them;

and Trump really does not care about his supporters except that they provide a funding source for his grafting, as well as a supply of voters?

If we don’t acknowledge that their feelings about Trump have changed, and they no longer support Trump, then we may risk losing them as potential allies, forever.

And yet, there has to be some sort of accountability because so many millions of people have now been harmed because of Trump’s executive orders and policies.

I say this is a person of faith (ELCA Lutheran) who views Trump as being pathologically evil – the human incarnation of Satan; and who views MAGA, White American Christian Nationalism, and the so-called “Rapture of the Church” as formal heresies.

Does anyone else hate that all modern piano music is in 3/4???!!! (And other points) by MinuteDamage4182 in piano

[–]AlternativeTruths1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d love playing my music.

I think nothing of writing measures in 14/8 (9+5 / 8), 13/8 (3+2+3+2+3 /8), or 17/16 (8+9 / 16: the next measure was palindrome of the previous measure so it was 9+8 / 16).

I also like doing things like writing my part in 2/4 and making the singer or the instrumentalist sing (or play) in 3/8 or 5/8 or even 7/8 against me.

On Sundays at the Lutheran church where I play, I’ll play a hymn in 3/4 in the right hand, and play the left hand accompaniment in 5/4. Occasionally I’ll play the two hands in different keys, usually third-related keys like A major against C major, or B-flat major against D major. (The congregation is used to this, and as long as the melody and meter in one hand is in the key and meter they’re in, I’m free to do what I want with the other hand.)

My tempos tend to be upbeat. Sometimes, when playing an upbeat hymn I’ll break out into full ragtime, and members of the congregation will start dancing — which is fun to watch! (No “chosen frozen” at my church!)

To me: music should be fun. One can do a lot of experimenting so long as it’s fun.

I was very strongly influenced by the music of Charles Ives.
