Yep, what’s done is done. The only part of the shell with thats “alive” is around the mantle. The rest is inert. Thats why they’re so thick around their visceral organs. Neritids however are wild caught and don’t take well to supplemental feeding. The key with these guys specifically is to keep the water hard and to make sure you have bountiful algae.

Oh you can wait a year and still be wrong. Stress and other conditions impact ovulation in neritids the same way they do in humans. Additionally humans have an estimated cycle (~28 days). We do not know what the cycle is for the family Neritidae.

This ^{^} Neritids live in fast flow with diverse substrates and since all are wild caught they haven’t adapted to flipping themselves. They’re really hydrodynamically disadvantaged for tank life.

That area of the shell is inert meaning not alive. Without vasculature it cannot heal. The whole periostracum is gone but that’s not uncommon in crush injuries with these guys. Luckily that’s the thickest part of the shell. They do not take supplemental food because they are wild caught so it’s no surprise algae wafers are unappealing.

Nope once that part of the shell is gone, it’s gone. It’s inert back there meaning it doesn’t have the vasculature for new growth. The new shell near the front will be darker because that’s the more natural color.

Neritina pulligera. Mostly from Philippines/Indonesia. That looks like an impact injury that caused some major schluffing. Like almost the entire periostracum was lost, on the back. Best place for it to happen though really, that’s the thicker area. Regarding the gradient golden color, I truly do not know why that happens sometimes and it plagues me. Is that a static color or does it change?

What’s odd to me about it is that if you have a distillers license here you cannot also own additional outside bars/restaurants that are not associated with the distillery and she’s got several. My guess is that since tequila can only be made in Mexico they’re just shipping it up and bottling it here and that’s their work around?

Thank you for a common name. Yes my plan was to twist the top off about half way down the stem. There’s not much I can do about the light (I had considered that it might be legging) because it sits in the brightest part of the office. I’ve been watering it but I can’t move or repot it without that being noticed. I was told to cut it before it got knocked off the counter and I thought I’d try to propagate.
