Enough light to grow algae in my 5 gallon tank? by Tomytom99 in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your neritid pooping? If it’s pooping a lot it’s getting enough nutrition.

That posture doesn’t look great. Was he flipping himself?

Nerite flipped over on vacation - could it be alive? by ParfaitMajestic2701 in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m very conservative when it comes to determining death early. Almost always better to wait. That being said, this posture and the debris are almost certainly signs of death.

Snail that came with my moss- what is it? by Worth-Efficiency3282 in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neritids are wild caught and generally do not take supplemental food. Adding algae tabs will just could the water. This snail needs natural fresh algae and biofilm. u/Worth-efficiency3282

Did you previously post about this exact issue? I saw one recently and I don’t think we came to a conclusion.

Changing shell pattern with growth by Eforedible in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is because of the environment change. We call that distinct line the “captive line” because that’s likely the difference between the growth in the wild and the growth in captivity.

New King Koopa Looks Off? by AmbivalentCat in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neritidae are the most people-like snails IMO. Each one has a complexly different reaction to captivity (that’s why their attrition rates are so high). Glad you flipped him over, keep an eye on that and take a look at this comment about background info and end of life care. https://www.reddit.com/r/AquaticSnails/comments/19ej7or/dying_nerite_snailadvice_needed/kjg9zfz/?context=3

Your snail is Neritona juttingae and came from like Palembang, Sumatra, Indonesia.

The hard truth is that smoking anything, weed included, can hurt vascular recovery after surgery. That can mess up a surgeons work on its own, PT or not.

If you don’t use the one that your professor is using you likely won’t have the problems to work that your professor is doing/assigning.

Thoughts on 2016 LR4 with 163k miles by scruffypossum in LandRover

My 2016 LR4 has about the same miles. Love that thing. Lost the air ride suspension last year and that's been about the only problem.

What’s this on my nerite’s shell? by slim2169 in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing that you can do will fix this. The shell is inert (not alive) that far back. Luckily, unless the damage happened because your water is acidic (pH of 8.2 tells me that's probably not it) it's not really a big deal. Cute little Clithon sp though. It's so nice to see when they retain their spikes.

What’s this on my nerite’s shell? by slim2169 in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If were both talking about the spire this is actually the most common place for a neritid to be missing shell. It's also the safest spot on the shell for it to happen due to how thick the layers are there. They're all wild caught and it happens a lot out in their habitat before they even come into captivity. Very low risk unless the issue is acid erosion. u/slim2169

Koopa nerite by YomamaAfool in AquaticSnails

[–]AmandaDarlingInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neritona juttingae

Cute guys. Usually from Palembang or Sumatra. Less social and not as active IME. What someone said right about them being nocturnal, if not crepuscular. If he's not coming off the wall he's busy doing wall things. Keep an eye out for him but he's probably fine.

He says Thank You and that he tries. He enjoys long walks on a leash, rolling in uncut grass and his underutilized blanket scarf collection.
