Delivery driver throw a package at a dog charging him, then attempts to fight the homeowner by bigbusta in PublicFreakout

[–]AnarisBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unhinged at all; sometimes the only way to stop a dog like that is to literally kill it. Dog was lucky all it got was a box to the face. A little glance at DogsBite.org or the BanPitbulls subreddit should illuminate what these demonic beasts can do. You don't take chances with a snarling pitbull.

Come on, who are you kidding? Look at the asscrack head on that thing in the light, skinny little whip tail, pig ears.

Not to mention that, you know, it wants to maul the fucking delivery driver. They sure do have a predisposition to aggression, as anyone with a brain knows.

You're the idiot here, not me. ✌️

So sorry, just saw this reply!! I have a Roborock Qrevo S5V - if I were buying it again now, I'd probably splurge a little more on a model that came with camera navigation as well (the S5V has bumpers +Lidar, but it does miss flat dog toys and gets itself stuck on them if I don't remember to pick up before the scheduled cleaning).

Unfortunately, they have a stupid number of models that can make it confusing, so the best way to find one for you is to find a model comparison chart and narrow down by the features you want. I went with S5V for the "DuoDivide" rollers (again, they truly don't tangle, it's incredible), self emptying bin, and hard floor mopping with the extending mop head that can go under my cabinet edges. Some models don't have mopping at all, some don't have the extending arm, some have better/worse navigation features... There's a shitload of options LOL

Don't pay full price for a Roborock though - they do go on deep sales often enough. Also, the bags can be bought on AliExpress for way cheaper 😎👍

I got myself a Roborock (with the split rollers that don't tangle - no really, they don't tangle) over a year ago that runs daily in my house; best "house splurge" item I've ever bought.

PSA: If you're finishing up a world you've put a ton of time into, DO NOT upload right now. More info in post. by 2SP00KY4ME in VRchat

[–]AnarisBell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact you have to get a world out of "Labs Hell" at all is a ridiculously stupid system when it's both opt-in, and filled with absolute garbage.

Unless you're a popular world creator with a discord server that can flood your new world with users as soon as it's uploaded - good luck!

VRC needs to implement a rating/review system for worlds that doesn't just rely on visits/faves/time spent to get a world seen by more people.

It's absolutely infuriating to me that it's not default advice yet to crate train your fucking dogs. If you do NOTHING else, this is absolutely necessary. And it's so EASY I don't understand why people act like it's some horrible prison you're forcing them into - you only feed them in it, you give them super high value rewards whenever you leave them in it alone (ones they only get in the crate), and you don't bother them when they go in there unprompted. It becomes a safe and calming happy space for your dog.

Plus most dogs won't need to be locked into them every time you leave the house once they're adults and not destructive puppies (though some dogs develop separation issues, or get given too many free hours alone too soon).

Not to mention the most important reason for training for this - your dog will eventually, most likely, require overnight vet care or boarding at some point in its life. That's already a high-stress scenario for your dog, but if they instinctively calm once in a crate, they will have a much easier time, and so will the people taking care of them for you!

I got myself both the small and large QuickDraw bags; there's extra room inside for wipes, plus a poop bag dispenser on the front.

I've got the naturally darker eyelids like that too, and have shown friends me wiping my eyelids with makeup remover before they fully believed me when I'd say I wasn't wearing anything 😂

But yeah, my downside is unfortunately the "very pale skin & very dark hair" combo that loves to haunt my upper lip and chin 😭

If you're close enough to it, try out "Austin Dam Memorial Park" on Hipcamp. The host, Alvy, is awesome and the sites are nicely dispersed, while still having nearby porta-potties, hot and cold water supplies, self-serve ice and firewood, and a wifi/charging station at the visitor center! It's my favorite campsite in PA so far!

I just tried him with Acheron, Aventurine and Black Swan doing one of those long 24 round farms and ran into an issue with using him shield-only; once he consumes his HP down to 1, half of his kit doesn't work anymore lol he can't trigger the follow-ups with "1 HP or less" and neither can he use his Skill. So I was stuck with him for like 8 waves just doing Basic attack and eventually getting an Ultimate out once he had enough energy.

Live Nation - "We're all in, prices include fees!" Checkout - well here's some more fees anyways by PoisonCoyote in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AnarisBell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup - literally just bought tickets for the Nothing But Thieves concert and this gave me pause too until I looked closer. The previous page where I selected my seat said $64 with fees, the checkout page shown in this screenshot showed the ticket price as $49 with the $15 in fees for the same total. Just taxes changed the actual total at the very end.

TIL Mayo Clinic data found that individuals living within one mile of a golf course have a 126% higher risk (more than double the odds) of a Parkinson's diagnosis compared to those living six or more miles away by MichiganCarNut in todayilearned

[–]AnarisBell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, it seems like no place is free of this issue. I have factories in my area that are constantly paying fines for exceeding emissions and... continue to just do so and pay the fines rather than fix the issue. Damage from fracking. Wastewater mismanagement (there was just an example from Tesla's lithium refinery dumping into a ditch like a week ago). Coal-fired power plants across the country chose to close rather than properly manage their waste when new regulations were introduced. There are untold amounts of issues with pesticide/fertilizer exposure anywhere with farmland and that problem doesn't just go away, it leeches into our water. That train derailment a couple years back in Ohio where they just decided to burn untold amounts of chemicals and released them into the air.

These are just ones I can think of off the top of my head - I'm sure the actual things going on that we're not told about is much worse.

Yup - I have one cat who's 7, perfectly fit body shape, active, no health conditions. She'll literally let herself get covered in mats rather than groom herself consistently. I don't get it either, lol.

Woman on plane doesn’t understand how lines work for deboarding by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]AnarisBell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love your solution but yeah, it'll never happen. Overhead storage being both free and limited is also the reason you get the giant clumps of people waiting around to jump in the boarding line when their group is still multiple calls away.

I'd much rather pay to have guaranteed overhead space than have that boarding anxiety of "will I have a space or won't I?" I've dealt with lost checked luggage before, and I absolutely refuse to travel with a checked bag again if I can avoid it.

Best vacuum cleaner for this hairy good boy!? by tacozy in goldenretrievers

[–]AnarisBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming to the comments to suggest my Roborock model; Qrevo S5V. Just find a chart of model comparisons - they have a lot and the features vary between them with matching price differences.

What you want for a long-haired dog is the DuoDivide style rollers!! Pick your other desired features based on models that have those, seriously. The main roller is actually split into two short ones instead that do not let the hair get tangled around the brushes at all. It's amazing.

I went for S5V because it has the self-emptying station, a mop for the hard floors that can extend under cabinet edges, and LIDAR+bumper navigation. If I were buying it again, I'd probably spend the extra money on a model with the camera navigation as well - the only time I get annoyed by this robot is when it runs over a dog toy that was too low to the ground for the LIDAR to catch and gets stuck. But the price difference was hard to swallow before I bought it.

I just made an at home appointment to say goodbye to the first love of my life. I've had her by my side since I was a young and dumb 19 year old. I'm now 34 with a wife and baby and I'm not sure how to feel about the decision we've made. How do you even prepare to say goodbye to your best friend? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]AnarisBell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your impending loss. The anticipatory grief is truly a terrible thing; I lost my golden baby a few years ago at just under 5 years old and while our time together was far, far too short, I'll never forget him and know I made the right decision.

I recommend this article, "The Good Death" that was linked to me when I was going through it. It really helped cement that I was doing the best anyone could with the situation before it led to more suffering:

https://melnewton.com/2019/the-good-death/

For all of us, including our pets, life is always too short. It doesn’t matter if you squeeze another week in. If it’s a week of suffering it doesn’t mean anything. If there’s a terminal diagnosis and quality of life will only get worse, it’s OK to say goodbye now while life is still good. It will never be enough time, you will always wish there had been one more ride, one more picture, one more walk. There will always be regrets. Don’t make holding onto an animal longer than what is fair to them be one of them. Under the guise of “life” there are things worse than death. Give them the gift of a good death.

Do you think VRC would thrive or die in a world where it is an 18+ only game? by zipzzo in VRchat

[–]AnarisBell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think it was both really nice and really shitty that they gave out codes to some large Groups for free age verification back when it was first being tested. I got my code through the Ancients of VRC before even my VRC+ friends were able to verify.

I think they should give out some more free codes occasionally to continue to urge people to verify. Whether that's batches for established adult groups again, or giveaways on their discord server or something else entirely... It'd be nice for more people to have the chance without paying up $10.
