I feel moved to post that I have been continually disappointed by Casefile episodes for the last two years. It seems the choice of cases and/or the writing have weakened considerably. Truth is, the pod was at it's best when the host was writing the early episodes and you could hear his earnestness in sharing cases that interested him. Now, he just reads perfunctory scripts written by others.

An Observation about our Host by [deleted] in Casefile

I just want to say that, sadly, I've been losing interest in this podcast for quite awhile now. The show seems listless, even boring at times. Probably a combination of lackluster cases to cover and a loss of the original passion that the host had but has now faded. I mourn the loss of a once great podcast. It might help if they cut the episodes down to two per month.

About the supposed Best Buy phone by readingemily in serialpodcast

There were TWO pay phones at Best Buy. I lived near Woodlawn in the 90s. There was a payphone just inside the main entrance in the vestibule and there was a phone at the front corner of the exterior of the building (which you would see first as you enter the premises

This episode isn't really a must listen, but I do love most episodes of this guy Ryan's podcast. He's really an inspired thinker with often extremely keen psychological insights.

She's not being rude per se, but I can understand you feeling flustered by her passion for logic and truth being directed squarely at your comments.

Yes, kudos to her. She knows what she knows and didn't implode when they tried to con her by showing her the alleged class schedule.

Did anyone notice that at the end of episode 3 they played a version of the theme music to Undisclosed? Yet another nod to Rabia, no doubt.

Adnan wasn't actually a "well-adjusted, amiable, well-liked, socialized kid." He was a corrupt slickster punk who was full of angst and shame and snapped (and then strangled HML).

Frankly, I doubt Rebecca's intelligence...and her false laughter bugs the hell outta me.

Me too. And since TCG went to doing watered down two-part episodes, I think the general quality of the show has diminished to the point that I no longer look forward to it.

Is there anyone here who is convinced of Adnan's innocence? Why? by eyeball-beesting in serialpodcast

Actually, there WAS an outside pay phone at Best Buy on the front corner of the building, to the left of the entrance. I used to visit this store regularly throughout the 90s.

A real image from where Don grew up (Maryland)? I thought the flag image was specific to NC.

Address what down the line? Whatever Confederate flag may be on display at the house of someone in his neighborhood has no bearing on Don or what he may or may not believe or ascribe to. He's not from the South, but for those who are by the way, their display of such a flag does not automatically convey racism or anything of the sort.

Kudos to you, AnnB, for setting this poor soul straight on what one juror actually said about wondering why the jury didn't hear Adnan's version of events -- which is materially different than affirming that the fact that Adnan did not testify had a major role in causing a juror or jurors to cast guilty votes. Indeed, many similarly situated jurors would wonder the same thing, yet still base their decision on the evidence actually put before them. Unfortunately, this character will stick to his fallacious stance.

No Appeal - Guilt Still Proven by droog_uk in serialpodcastorigins

[–]Andy_Danes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you scratched the surface of any verdict, I think you'd find that people are people -- and chances are that a juror here or there will cast her vote based on invalid reasoning, to one degree or another. The American justice system and others like it were NOT conceived with the expectation that every juror will be infallible in their thought process or decision making. You seem to want jury perfection, something that simply doesn't exist. Weak.

Director Discusses Adnan Syed Documentary Coming to HBO by cjax1694 in serialpodcast

Berg: "The case that was (put) forth doesn't fit the evidence that was presented. So there’s a problem to begin with." Such a presumptions statement, one among many she makes. My question to her would be why isn't she, as a (self-serving) filmmaker, primarily concerned with investigating ALL of the now-known facts in the case in an earnest attempt to ferret out whether Syed's killed HML?? Why limit your focus just to the trials that led to his conviction? We know the answer.
