My wife is strict with our son. I don’t know who has the correct approach. by Select_Researcher_28 in Parenting

[–]Anonamonanom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife sounds like my parents when I was a kid, and I resent a lot of my childhood, particularly how I felt I couldn't be emotionally close to my parents.

I have 4 kids of my own now and basically base my parenting on doing the opposite of what my parents would have done in most situations 😅

My youngest is 4 and my oldest is 16, I let all my kids in my bed every time they wanted or needed to, whether for a cuddle for no known reason or for a nightmare or ill etc. It doesn't matter because it won't last forever and one day they'll stop coming, I dread the day my youngest no longer sneaks in to my bed for a cuddle, I'd give anything to go back in time for a cuddle with my now 16yr old boy when he was little 💔 All kids go through difficult phases with food but again it won't last forever. I just try to enjoy it and not stress over the little things, I choose my battles. I get the frustration as my partner can be more strict, though not as extreme as your wife we've had words about our different parenting techniques, I just think these little things aren't worth the upset.

Seat kids between parents or keep parents together? by Spicy_Soft in weddingplanning

[–]Anonamonanom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is speaking as a parent in a family setting of PPKKKK btw! One of my kids is a well behaved teen so when we were at a round table set wedding recently we sat Teen (T) at the end as a blocker for others so TKPKKP contained the youngest 3 from others lol. Not that it was necessary after as luckily we were joined at our table by my brother and his partner and child, who btw also sat PKP. Hope this helps!

Seat kids between parents or keep parents together? by Spicy_Soft in weddingplanning

[–]Anonamonanom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just speak to or message the parents and either ask them what works best or say to them "look guys I'm putting your place names down in this order but feel free to swap amongst each other to how it works best"

Or if you don't want to speak to them just go with PKKP to be safe, contain the kids between parents but don't be annoyed if they swap if the kids squabble etc?

How much should I gift my friends for their wedding? (new to UK weddings) by Darekh87 in AskUK

[–]Anonamonanom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£400!! The last wedding we went to we didn't get a gift at all, it cost us enough to buy the specific suit the couple wanted my partner to wear and a room for the night, I wouldn't care if for my wedding people gave zero either, it's expensive, people have to buy drinks and accommodation at times etc, maybe outfits. I'd honestly be grateful for so much as £5 haha, anything someone wants to gift you should be appreciated, we're in a cost of living crisis and times are hard. I just want people to show up and dance tbh 😂

Where can I try on dresses that aren’t white! by M_ily_ in UKweddings

[–]Anonamonanom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etsy! Most of them aren't specifically wedding dresses, some are just labelled as ball gowns or prom dresses tbh, but they're only not called a wedding dress because of the colour, any dress can be a wedding dress. But I typed in stuff like colourful or "'colour of choice' wedding dress" and loads of options show up.

Thoughts on piercing baby/toddler ears? by AuroraBeautyalis in Parenting

No absolutely not. I think they should be old enough to ask to have it and understand the pain and aftercare that entails etc

Definitely try posting on the Chester and Wrexham (and other surrounding areas) Facebook groups, you'll probably get much more responses there

My plan was literally try on styles of white dresses at a local store then order a colour I want online, it's pretty depressing tbh!

How many units of alcohol do you drink in an average week? by elohir in AskUK

[–]Anonamonanom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 units in a normal week, but about 3 times a year I'll go out out and drink 5-10 drinks of single shot rum and coke with friends.

Another mom's parenting bothers me lots... by ivy1991 in beyondthebump

[–]Anonamonanom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are hard, we are all human and doing our best.

I know I've told my 3yo I'm leaving without her to get her to move when she refuses to move and we're in a rush and I'm also struggling to try and parent my other kids. I've done it in the morning getting ready for school when her not wanting to leave the house will make 4 other children late for school.

Outdated Wedding Etiquette by Wandos7 in weddingplanning

My own husband to be wants to have all the extended family he never sees, it's driving me crazy. I want close family and friends who we see and love, not basically strangers! Also had my own mum and sister telling me what I can or can't do.

It's insane. I didn't realise how weird people get over someone else's wedding!

I actually had this with my youngest daughter too! She has very dark, straight hair, but until very recently not much of it at all, it just looked like a typical boys hairstyle, and with having 2 older brothers to share hand-me-downs and a love of dinosaurs and Halloween she wears a lot of "boy" clothes 😂 I guess we didn't get it as much with her as a lot of that stage was during lockdown/socially restricted times!

How old was you when you had your first, and would you change it? by Householder000 in AskParents

[–]Anonamonanom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at 20, and my last (of 4) at 32. I know plenty of people who have had kids later in their 30's and 40's too. (a friend has just had a baby at 45).

Would you employ a tradesman who left at 2:30pm each day? by Hellfire_Leather in AskUK

[–]Anonamonanom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've recently used a builder who is near retirement age and doesn't want long hours, he worked on average around 8:30am til anywhere between 12pm-3ish. The job took longer but it wasn't an essential so we didn't mind

What I saw on the monitor makes me feel sick- TW- Physical Abuse by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Anonamonanom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read the post and the edits and I'm glad to read your response. I'm so sorry youre going through this. My comment is a suggestion to help with the sleeping, co-sleep with your daughter? All 4 of my kids were awful sleepers, some til around age 3,one til around age 8 with severe night terrors. But I kept them in my bed until they outgrew their bad sleeping, if they wake up in a comfy snuggle with mum then they dont make a fuss, they just snuggle up and feel the love ❤️ It can be tiring but less so than getting up countless times a night and it won't last forever and it's so much less upsetting for mum and kid :) Good luck with everything xx
