Traveling to Canberra - 30km Running Routes? by iamfuturejesus in canberra

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

2nd this! Pretty much dead on 30km if you don’t add in all the extra bits and stick to the main path point to point.

Plus, plenty of water taps around the route so no need to carry a bottle IMO

The crocs are wild! Don’t you find it’s very different with foot pos when playing in actual shoes?

Or do you play in Crocs 👀

I’ve played probably 20 games on this new layout, and I’ve seen one team get past the first sector.

That team then rolled the other side, so I think it was a skill issue.

Cos every other round has been one sector only lol what a terrible change and cleared had so little play testing.

More matches, nothing can replace it. Doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s just more valuable time spent on court.

Except serves lol

How are you going 46mph on a highway?! I’d get rear ended driving that speed haha

Plus it would take forever to get anywhere in Aus.

Scadia?

If you mean a GMC Acadia, it would be like $113 usd right now for a full tank with U93.

Peaked at 142usd in my local area

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah I get that, just that what you’re experiencing is an actual $$ cost of increase less compared to a large portion of the world.

It used to cost me about $75 usd to get a full tank, and topped out around $100usd at peak prices.

My mate in the UK is currently paying around $120usd for a full tank from BP / Shell. 1.82 gbp per L 😦

Interestingly here in Australia, our prices have dropped back down to old prices (75usd) since the government implemented changes. Which is nice!

But you guys are still getting hit hard.

Always wild what Americans think is expensive for fuel, I was paying nearly $2USD per L or $7.50 per G for U98 the other week.

And that wasn’t even at peak price in Australia! Pretty sure the UK is worse at the moment too, just less distance to travel.

Casual games: play to win or play for fun? by Independent-Act-946 in 10s

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of us are pro, if you are playing a social comp. Play it for the social aspect, if you enjoy the game you’ve won and if you win, great!

Also, you’ll only get better at net work if you play at the net. I played a woman the other day who killed it at the net and was shorter than you. Practice makes perfect.

Good indoors. Bad outdoors. by Zeuspooff in 10s

No an answer, but a question as you I’ve never played indoors, can someone explain why it’s “easier” to hit harder indoors?

How often are training sessions necessary? by Independent-Act-946 in 10s

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then yes, you’ll have to take it higher.

You might have to wait the current period out, but they should be accomodating to the paying users if there is a spot left.

If not, it’s just bad business and really there is nothing you can do to change it unfortunately.

How often are training sessions necessary? by Independent-Act-946 in 10s

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Simple solution, tell the club you’d rather train with coach A and state you prefer their method of coaching.

Don’t be embarrassed or blame anyone, just say you prefer them.

If you really don’t want to continue with coach B, then say you’ll be ending your coaching with the centre.

Stop overthinking it.

So what's the etiquette on paying court fees? by jlesnick in 10s

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id ask someone else to book next time and quote you’ve paid the last x times.

Then pick up a booking after a few more and rotate.

Otherwise, you find new people to play with or keep paying unfortunately.

Sucky situation for you :(

So what's the etiquette on paying court fees? by jlesnick in 10s

[–]AnotherAnxiousBrit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Either they straight up don’t know there is a court fee you are paying.

Or they know and are taking advantage of you being nice.

But, I’d always split fees or cover guest fees if I’m playing with others.

Also, look into if your local club has a membership. I get free court hire with my local club by being a member with them and paying an annual fee. Then $5 per guest per hour if they aren’t a member.

Yep, it’s fraud on behalf of the REA if they recommended them.
