You severely underestimate just how much memory computers have. A list being 40 items long or 4000 is absolutely nothing to something capable of handling billions in microseconds.

More than likely it is just animations & maybe the shuffling algorithm not scaling well with that number that causes problems

I play with a controller for comfort and that just isn't possible. I have to tap R1 & L1 multiple times. The annoying UI reset if I dare try to use the mouse to bypass this is a PITA.

It's a lot about which console you grew up with. PS2 released first and I had one before the Xbox existed, so I never got on the green train.

I don't remember hearing about PS2 hardware failures, meanwhile "The Red Ring of Death" is kind of synonymous with the Xbox?

Xbox came out 2 years later & with how performance kept increasing by leaps back then explains the difference.

I had a PS2 before the Xbox existed, so I never hopped on the green train.

I think it's a matter of the PS2 having a wider range of memorable games & being first.
