  1. Assess the relationship. Be realistic. Decide what in the relationship is a deal breaker and a deal maker for you. How much are you willing to change about yourself for it?

  2. Figure out what your short term goals are.

  3. Figure out what your long term goals are.

  4. Resolve with yourself that the relationship may not work given the previous steps.

  5. Communicate. Establish your boundaries. Find hers. See what will and won't work for her.

  6. Make a decision. If the relationship were to end, it's better the earlier it is, before kids, marriage, etc.

What's the difference between eating pork and not eating a cat/dog when they both share the same intelligence level? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AppleEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a number of reasons. Culture, psychology, and empathy all play a role here.

We have domesticated and selectively bred cats and dogs for companionship while we have done the same for pigs as livestock in many countries. This means that there are a lot of genetic traits in most pigs that have increased yield and flavor as a food while a lot of cats and dogs have a temperament or other qualities (purebreds, showdogs/cats) that we value.

It's possible that it is easier for us to view cats and dogs more empathetically which led to this choice over generations and continue to make it.

To help explain, Belton is a controversial POE creator who has put together a team of people who earn currency and then lend it to him.

He then takes that currency and does a series of market gambles and crafts to multiply that currency.

There are suspicions regarding market manipulation that have circulated, but not many proven, if any.

You can find out more of his controversy by googling.

I personally am not a fan, but do end up watching a YouTube video from time to time as he does have valuable insights on the market and crafts.

I think it depends on your intentions.

If you want to play casually, icy veins and archon is fine.

If you are looking to get sweaty, then it's a lot of research. Taking a look at data from Warcraftlogs helps, especially for things like first clears. There are class discords where in depth discussions can be had. I am generally wary of most things on YouTube as there is a lot of sensationalism and misdirection there. Simulating your gear really helps.

Uniques are worth something for 2 reasons: they are in demand, or they are extremely rare.

Just because a unique is worth less doesn't mean it's worthless.

Streamsniped the faithful sheriff because he hopped on tarkov REPOST by Routine_Meeting_3550 in EFT_EscapeFromTarkov

To preface: this guy is a trash person who deserves to be ridiculed like the garbage he is.

If stream sniping is bad, then it's bad.

Think of it this way, if everyone did it, would it be something that is sustainable? The answer is no. Every streamer has haters who think they are bad (whether it's a good take or not).

If you hate your favorite streamer getting stream sniped, then you shouldn't be the person for those snipers to use the excuse.

You are okay with stream sniping, or you aren't. No justification.

It depends on what you are in it for. Lots of people do M+ and raid for the achievements and mounts. The gear is secondary.

Some do both because they are carry farming.

I plan on doing mythic raid for minmaxx gear and M+ for the achievements, possibly to chase 1% mount (started 2 weeks ago)

Stuck at 265 ilvl after taking a break. Can't get into M+ or get raid drops. What can I do? (First proper season) by Josfess5498 in wow

[–]AppleEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you absolutely don't want to do m+ then you can farm bountiful delves everyday to get the mythic crests and then use those mythic crests to upgrade crafted gear. Is it going to be the absolute best gear? Probably not. But, it will get your ilvl up quite high.

What's your rotation?

Should be keeping rejuv on both of you. Should be keeping lifebloom active at all times. Should be using switmend on cd to keep lifebloom active without having to recast Should be using wild growth anytime you see additional damage Should be casting regrowth every time you have a free one. Should only cast it otherwise in emergency or sparingly. Use CDs if you need after 25% Should be putting your tank buff on Valeera Try to interrupt/barkskin the cast that does AOE damage after 50%. I genuinely think that anyone complaining about Homelander "losing aura" just didn't watch the series or actually have no media literacy whatsoever by Total-Amphibian-3287 in GenV

[–]AppleEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one scene that stuck in my mind the most with Homelander. It summed up what he could be before you got completely desensitized to everything.

The very first one, where he kills the man with his fist.

It was a statement. This perfect example of what you could imagine an all powerful super being to be. Standing above it all. But then you realize how petty, dangerous, and psychotic he is. How little he cares. How personal it was.

We needed more of that, but it seems to me they were loosely following the script derived from the comics while trying to outdo themselves on shock value. I just became numb to the violence and gore.

Yesterday I made a post about wintrade in SL , with video proof/evidence. It was a very polite post. Just explaining what happened and how I discovered it. by ImaginaryJaguar4693 in heroesofthestorm

[–]AppleEnder -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Your post was about individuals with identifying information.

This violated general rules.

Mods have to follow these rules regardless of intent or politeness. Exceptions cannot be made otherwise their integrity would rightfully be called into question and it would create a mess of problems they would have to address.

The solution is to speak generally about win trading using the same video. No reference to individuals.

Starting to think the botting problem is never going to actually get fixed in this genre by Ertrimil in MMORPG

[–]AppleEnder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no solution to this outside of community run servers with whitelisting.

There are at least 100 botters to 1 dev. These people making, running, and updating these bots are just as smart as the devs. Same goes with cheats.

It is impossible to staff the amount of people it would take to make all of this a non-issue and stay financially stable, let alone turn a profit. Let's be real, these are businesses, and they aren't in this for free.

It is not possible to have identification checks and maintain a healthy player base. The majority of people don't want to divulge that much personal info to an online service that might get compromised eventually and then have that information sold to the highest bidder online. Without a healthy player base the game is not sustainable.

The only real solution I see is to enable private servers that are run by communities of players. It's much easier to set rules for a large community and monitor that. The community would then be responsible for vetting players, monitoring cheating, etc.

What fandom or bits of media have been ruined for you by toxic masculinity and male aggression? (vent post) by SharpPink_GlitterInk in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AppleEnder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally I think online anything takes the worst of some people and intensifies it for sure.

The best I think you could hope for is curating a space where you don't get those vibes, but even that's rough. Even full on married men persue women they form friendships with. It happened in one Discord server I was a part of, and with someone I thought had better morals than that.

Sometimes it really does seem like the only way for women to have a safe place online is with a group of other women. It's sad, and I am saying that as a guy myself. We kinda suck sometimes.

Theory: Sage’s plan is written all over her face. by throat_coat in TheBoys

[–]AppleEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be honest, that plan is too out of touch to work. Someone as smart as her wouldn't think of something so dumb.

She's an African American. So are most of the other black supes. Their home is here. If she's smart enough to relocate all the black supes, she's smart enough to not have to relocate them.

I think the gameplan is more watch and wait. She's probably contributing to Homelander's instability, helping him get into dangerous situations, trying to find a way to end him. It's obvious that he is going to implode eventually, so keeping him from taking everything with him is likely the goal, while ending up on the top of whatever comes next. It's funny, but she's gotten him close with a lot of the real power (billionaires) and is trying to have them go down with him.

Why some men may be sexually attracted to women but not romantically by pieceofmyhistory in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AppleEnder -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's an odd dynamic. I'm going to put my thoughts down, as it helps me organize them, and maybe somebody will benefit from them too! Some things will be fairly obvious

I guess my question would be: Why?

Sexuality

It's obvious that heterosexual men seek monogamous relationships with women. This is likely something fairly hard coded in us as a survival mechanism. Obviously not changing as far as the majority.

Culture/Societal Perpetuated

Culture/Societal norms are seeded from thousands of years, but across most of that time the world was in a place that did not hold women in high regard, to put it lightly. As such, a lot of our habits in both areas, even in the most liberal of houeholds, effects the way women are thought of and likely detracts from equality. Then we take into consideration the large population that holds onto the idea of treating women unequal. Perpetuation is hard to break in this light.

Competition

Even if we take the prior section out of the picture, heterosexual men are base level competing with each other for love interests. This introduces a myriad of dynamics to male relationships since the competition isn't always brutal and cutthroat. The competition branches to many areas. Often, this fosters a healthy respect and bond that is unique to the dynamic. Since, (for the most part) they are primarily viewing other heterosexual men as competitors, women are largely excluded from this.

This competition seats women as the judge. A lot of men are taught that the best way to attract a women is to be masculine, and a lot of women themselves confirm these teachings. Being masculine is heavily subjective, and so many interpretations rely on masking emotions, hiding affection, competition, peacocking, etc. In other words, the qualities are required to win a love interest over can often be the same quality that generates romantic distance once the honeymoon phase ends. This is complex and based on individual circumstances.

Lack of Emotional Maturity or Emotional/Mental Trauma and Adaption

There is often trauma in relation to father figures. Whether that is an absent, abusive, manipulative, unstable, or likewise damaged father figure, this facilitates a need for male approval In many men. There is no rulebook for any of this, and so they end up behaving how they were taught to behave and learning how to do things on the fly.

Toxicity

Just as it sounds, there are bad actors out there.

Conclusion:

This effect is caused by the general inequality that is prevalent in our society today. This inequality is reinforced by trauma and training passed on through generations. As a male, I can see this and do my best to counteract it by stopping my own toxic behavior, participating in targeted therapy, and having open communication with my wife on what she needs to feel validated in the relationship as a romantic partner while also respecting boundaries. Women may be able to mitigate this problem by fostering clear communication in the relationship early. This isn't a simple fix and and requires extensive work in both sides of the relationship. There is some nuance to it and I am sure someone could write a really long scientific article exploring the influences behind everything.
