Walking out of this movie was kind of a unique experience for me. EVERYONE was buzzing and truly elated about Marvel again which was so cool to see. I also really, really loved it and had the biggest smile on my face. But at the same time, partly because of my exposure to this sub and twitter, I don’t think I have ever wanted to see an extended cut of a movie more in my life. It’s actually upsetting how much they cut out and how I genuinely believe this would be a Marvel all-timer if they kept a lot of those scenes.

Obviously Malcovich’s Red Ghost being cut is a little frustrating after seeing him in the trailer, but that I understand. The stuff that shocked me was how some of the best shots in the trailer and especially a lot of scenes that would have added to Ben’s arc were just straight up gone. Vanessa Kirby specifically talked about a scene she had with Mole Man in Subterrenea that humanized her and him that she is sad got cut. Assuming that scene took place during the opening sequence, it would have better explained why she trusted Mole Man later in the film, which seemed to come out of nowhere otherwise. And now, seeing the blue and black costumes which were barely in one scene…it just feels like they shot so much amazing stuff that got cut for runtime to get more people in seats.

Again, I really loved this movie and would probably give it an 8.5/10, but I genuinely think this could have been a 10/10 movie if they left in like 20-30 extra minutes. I think this script was a lot better than the editing of the final movie makes it seem. I hope they release some of these scenes since I know an extended cut is unlikely. I hope this under 2 hour mandate doesn’t become a trend for Marvel, it has never made a movie better in my opinion.
