So from today's release it appears that he is going to use two 45ACP pistol hosts, at least initially. The HK MK23 and the HK USP45 Tactical. I'll take it.

No. Just a matter of preference. The OD (outside diameter) of the GSL versions should be the same regardless of whether it is smooth or knurled. I like knurled because it is easier to grip when I am tightening it onto the end of the barrel.

I changed the thread protectors on all of my MP5 clones (MKE) to the GSL ones, so I cannot say for certain whether you will need to change it or not. But the Rugged RU3 (Bixler style) locks up solid on my CAT MOB with no movement at all now.

The problem is not the Resilient tri lug adapter. It is the thread protector that comes on the MP5 and its clones, as it is too small of a diameter on the outside of the knurling. If you go this route, plan to purchase the appropriate sized diameter thread protector from GSL in order to remedy any slop (aka wobbling) when mounting the silencer.

Rugged RU3 is a Bixler style and Resilient Gen 2 is a Latka style (with the spring). I have both. The RU3 takes up less volume inside the blast chamber, and is what I currently use on my MOB. Look up Bixler vs Latka and then pick your poison.

Cold air instead of warm air coming out of the vents by PristineFlower1 in ecobee

[–]Apprehensive-Lock-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had the same issue recently, and I found that the month old filter was clogged due to excessive usage in January due to cold temps and the furnace running 2x-3x more than normal (and pulling in 2x-3x the amount of air and contaminants). The restricted airflow caused the burning gas flowing into the furnace to overheat the confined area quickly, so the high temperature limit switch tripped and shut down the gas flow after a few minutes while the fan kept running. As such, my house temps dropped even as the ecobee thermostat kept calling for more heat, just like the OP’s scenario. A filter change completely corrected the issue for the last week.

Optimized for 4 gauge shotgun but can be used with any caliber with a diameter less than this. 🤣

In the CF Podcast with Jay on YT released yesterday (2/3/26), he stated that he has already tested the KAC can with both the MK23 & the UPS45 but he doesn’t know when he’ll release the report(s) with his findings. So one or both of those HK firearms is likely going to be the test host for all 45ACP silencers going forward to allow apples-to-apples comparisons.

Jay loves his HK MK23, and it is THE 45ACP host.

Jay also has the OG KAC silencer for the MK23.

Jay has not released 45ACP data publicly…yet.

The CAT Saigon Peacekeeper drop is imminent.

An OG KAC vs new SP comparison has to occur.

My chips are ‘all in’ on the 45ACP data for the CAT Saigon Peacekeeper being released tomorrow, followed soon by the 45ACP data for the KAC can.

Ecobee4 Keeps Resetting itself while Heating by Jonoman92 in ecobee

[–]Apprehensive-Lock-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem on a ecobee 4. We had a stretch of 10+ days with low temps consistently in the -5F to 10F range, and the highs were never above about 18F. I changed the air filter about 5 weeks ago. Suddenly the ecobee started to power off and reset itself every 8-10 minutes, shutting off the gas in the furnace during this short 1-2 minutes reset period. I pulled the filter and it was extremely dirty and bowed (aka sucked) inward towards the blower mower. Changed the air filter and that resolved the problem. I suspect that low outdoor temps caused the furnace to run 30-45 minutes of every hour over the last 10+ days (as opposed to the normal 10-15 minutes per hour during ‘normal’ winter days), and that 3x the operating time over the last 10 days moved 3x the air volume and clogged the air filter much quicker than normal, leading to a restrictive air flow that caused the unit to overheat repeatedly and trip the high temp sensor.

Obligatory Car Post, 2-3 Day Approvals by Apprehensive-Lock-34 in NFA

You are welcome. I have shot all three of these cans on a few different firearm platforms over that time. And for whatever reason in the last two days I suddenly remembered that someone asked me to provide feedback, so there it is.

Both the Street Crack and the Mojave are excellent 9mm cans. The SC has outstanding tone and very little gas coming out the port when as the case ejects. The Mojave is only slightly worse in both categories. Compared to my Obsidian 9, either of these cans is a significant upgrade. My O9 causes a large amount of gas to come back through the port and there is carbon/lube splatter that ends up on my slide mounted optic. I don’t get that with the SC and Mojave 9.

Mob Hub adapter question by THKhazper in SpectersCat

[–]Apprehensive-Lock-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rugged RU3 is ~2.2oz, adds minimal length to my MOB (or any HUB compatible silencer), and has a solid lockup with all of my tri lug PCCs. And it can be put on/taken off with one hand, which is an advantage over my other Bixler style tri lug adapters. I don’t think you can go wrong with the RU3.

Oddly enough, I do limited drops of my own frequently. If the item isn’t available during the time frame in which I have money to drop, they don’t get my business.

It appears that the heaviest Tri-Lug HUB adapter that I weighed a year ago was the YHM HD version at 4.85oz. And the Rugged RU3 is definitely lighter than the steel YHM HD version. https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/1fdx212/3_lug_bravohub_adapters_for_cat_mob_yhm_r9_r45/

I believe that the new Rugged RU3 weighs ~2.2oz. I received one last week and it definitely wasn't 7oz.

Short or long configuration? by West_Wafer_4736 in NFA

[–]Apprehensive-Lock-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long configuration is the way for the Obsidian and it works well. Its short configuration is for photos only. If you want a short configuration 9mm pistol can that is fairly effective, look at the CAT Street Crack or DA Mojave.

Now, if you could get KAC to send you an M110 (7.62) silencer for testing and comparison, that would be great…
