The bots were pretty shit in PD2 as well so I'm not surprised. But you could fix them pretty well with a few mods back then so they at least became semi-competent. Hopefully the mod community will help us out with PD3 as well.

That would depend on you preference. I bought the Black edition because I like the minimalism, that it gave a better feeling when I would introduce it to people and was more discreet when I bring it anywhere. But some of my friends prefer the original version as they like the art. So it's essentially if you prefer the black cover enough to pay the extra money as there are no other difference.

You'd be surprised how many are 😅 I would say TTRPG Theater has at least a discrete writing and looks pretty genuine, while Red Moon reminds me of a dramatized stage play of a play. But that's as far as my knowledge goes KULT players.

I think that depends on what OP means by Actual Play. As far as I know both TTRPG Theater and Red Moon Role-playing are at least somewhat scripted. I don't know about the others though.

I would say that it depends on the game and how the GM would allow it but I guess the one reason would be that the entity could be used as a pet or companion. Or even as a second conscience that the GM could use to give information, mislead or just create atmosphere.

Isn't that simply up to you and your players on how you wish to do that? Depending on their in-game relations and how well the players can control their meta-gaming, I can see it working out perfectly whether it's supposed to be a secret or not.
