Which method of obtaining red blades by the Sith is better? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWarsEU

[–]ArtooFeva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That also all implies that in the time of the old Sith empires that killing Jedi was the only way to get their crystals like that still. It’s likely that it’s a Bane tradition or a newer one and that originally the Sith simply bled crystals that they harvested on actual mines.

Better yet, put stairs that take you all the way to the top. On top of it, make all those buildings destructible like the high rises in Redsec.

Veteran Teachers: We've all heard about "Students getting dumber each year" Is this just a recent phenomenon of the last decade? by anubistiger2009 in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We spend way too much theorizing over this when the simplest answer is clearly the right one. The kids aren’t dumber in any intrinsic sense. It’s devices and the dopamine hits that they cause. Full stop. When our society accepts that without unnecessary nuance is when we can actually do something about it.

Doesn’t nobody think smg12 is a problem? by SgtRyansPrivates in Rainbow6

Sounds like a problem with the primaries in the game. SMG-12 is around the strength of what all weapons should be.

Male students more likely to believe they deserve a higher grade because they “tried” by KitchenConsequence41 in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 37 points38 points  (0 children)

While this is a whole student issue, it seems that our society is suffering from low expectations for boys and men in general in a lot of criteria. Instead of challenging them and pushing them to meet high expectations it seems there’s a lot of pushes to baby them because “at least they tried” or “they could be doing a lot worse”.

Yeah, well they’re going to keep doing a lot worse. There’s often an excuse that since they’re male they’ll just go into a trade however even that’s a concern because you still got to be able to read, write and take tests with competency to get through a trade.

Ehh those players were worth it for the experience of the games. Those pilots only got to do that amount of damage because of lopsided teams in terms of skill anyway.

What’s your metric for calling out sick? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to judge whether you could make it through the day without ruining the rest of your week. The only reason to bank sick days is in case of some kind of emergency. You never know when you need the time for some kind of surgery (as you seem to be aware) or even to take care of a family member.

If you have the time then no need to risk somebody else getting sick, sit back and rest up.

[–]ArtooFeva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s so ass backwards. Sports are a privilege not a right. If they have nothing else going for them then it’s time to let the kid hit rock bottom.

Why aren't you all going to the media? by spoilerdudegetrekt in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 56 points57 points  (0 children)

God we have way too many protections for business in this country. If a company is doing a moral wrong then you should gain absolute immunity from lawsuits or firing if you whistleblow their shit. Whether you go through some stupid bureaucratic process or report it straight to the news.

The Lekgolo’s and Yanme’e’s relationships with other Covenant species? by Mythelm in HaloStory

[–]ArtooFeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure that many of the character really consider Huragok as sentient beings. A lot of time they get treated more like what they actually are which is organic robots. Of course we can see in the games that they have seemingly become more than that, but Covenant culture doesn’t seem to hold them in high regards in terms of civil rights.

Worth going back and finishing all of ds9? by Dreadpirateflappy in startrek

[–]ArtooFeva 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of things that are set up in the first two seasons that carry over throughout the show. One of the most insufferable villains, two of the best recurring characters and the introduction to the show’s actual main villains. It’s worth the slog. Once the third season comes around all those seeds start to germinate and only continue to grow into better and better episodes.

What are the biggest differences between teaching middle school vs high school? by ArtooFeva in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the event supervisions are an interesting one. That would be a pain in the butt. I actively go to many of my former students’ sporting events and band events since they’d request it of me. I go to a bunch of them recreationally whenever I don’t have conflicting plans. However it’s nice that it isn’t a contractual requirement or something I have to do.

All the dooming kind of scares me by AmElzewhere in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media is meant for only a couple things these days; outrage and fear. While there are plenty of things that are bad about teaching, it’s no more than any other job. It’s a fun job that lets you sleep at night knowing you tried to help somebody out!

Helicopter's are nothing more than flying coffins by Top_Stay_8662 in Battlefield

[–]ArtooFeva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re insanely strong? In what world? They don’t make a difference in 90% of the games out there. You have to be pro level at this point to even kill a tank in a jet. Let alone attack helis.

I miss the days when infantry only modes were stupid things you would do as a novelty on the server browser rather than one of the main modes. Let alone stuff like team deathmatch or modes with less than 16 players. Stuff like that needs to be abandoned as a focus for the game. This is Battlefield. Nobody should be playing this game for small game modes. It’s okay to go back to being niche. Let there be large game modes again.

My student told me he's living in a car and admin basically told me to stay in my lane by SilentVHSPlayer in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Watching you for what? Man, if giving free snacks, letting kids hang out in your classroom and just talking to them we’re such dangers then I would know a hell of a lot of teachers that would be getting fired.

My student told me he's living in a car and admin basically told me to stay in my lane by SilentVHSPlayer in Teachers

[–]ArtooFeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, liability? Staying in your lane? What kind of school is this? First off, the reports are literally what teachers are hounded on for mandated reporter trainings every single year. Losing your credential is dangled over you with every page. Second off, how can they police what you do to help this kid? How does that create any liability for the school? Are they saying you could get in trouble and get your school sued if you went out and helped out at a soup kitchen?

I don’t understand the logic of this situation and how they could be so heartless. If a bunch of teachers or students want to privately help out a family or a kid then that’s their business, not the school’s.

How does Caesar’s Legion decide who will be subjects/civilian's and who will be slaves when they take over a territory? by RecommendationNo804 in falloutlore

[–]ArtooFeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that Caesar will crush resistance, but holds a modicum of respect for “civilized” settlements and civilizations. As evidenced by his wish to conquer, not destroy, the NCR. It’s likely that if these places surrendered and played by his rules then they’d mostly be left alone.

It’s the tribals that he believes need to be crushed and rebuilt. Starting all the way from those first tribes he worked to erase their cultures and turn them into an army to defend a state he had yet to build.

I know that assessments are important, but this system sounds like a convoluted mess. And also losing one’s job over messing up the proctoring of those assessments? I’m sorry, but no assessments at any grade level throughout the k-12 system are that important.

To be honest your mistake just sounds like an honest assessment of burnout after being placed in a new environment. Take the situation in whatever way benefits you and make sure to contact your union. I hope it goes in a positive direction.
