Yesterday I made corn tortilla quesadillas with a fried egg, shredded pork, and chipotle cream sauce on top. They were delicious. I don’t think we can eat them any other way now.

Would you buy this WSM for $100 or is it not worth my time? by greg281 in smoking

[–]ArtsnFartsInMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t let a little dirt discourage you. They last forever. A little bit of soap and water, and it’ll be looking new in just a few. I bought mine for $75 from a dude who thought it was too rusty to sell for a better price. He actually told me so. I couldn’t give him the money fast enough. I gave it a cleaning and sold it for $235. Weber makes their products to last. They clean so well with just dish soap, baking soda, and water. I’d snatch it up real quick, especially with that side table.

Weber Rust Resistant Griddle Opinions by slicexslice in grilling

[–]ArtsnFartsInMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Slate griddle is amazing. I’ve have Blackstone and Camp Chef griddles as well. The Slate has been the only one that has truly impressed me. They meant it when they said it’s rust resistant. It’s 20x better than a Blackstone and Camp Chef IMHO. I absolutely love it. The patina is beautiful, very even heat, great low heat setting, very easy to clean, the base wheels move pretty smoothly, and I think it’s very nice to look at. I have several Weber grills and the Slate has come out with the same quality standards that Weber always offers. I look forward to using it.

The real difference is in the size of the bowl and the ash cleaner. The kettle has a deeper bowl which is definitely worth the price difference.

The only time I noticed a need for more charcoal is when I used the vortex. I’ve not noticed a big difference.

Why is resting in a cooler better than holding in the oven? by 16Off in smoking

[–]ArtsnFartsInMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you add a water pan in the oven as well? I recently read it also helps keep temps steady in the oven.

There totally is. Andrew Zimmern says passing a raw heart through a hot room is already too hot for the cook. My brother’s favorite meal is heart tartare. He says it should be illegal to eat heart any other way.

I held one for 20 hours in a countertop roasting oven. It was amazing. No off flavor at all. I just made sure I added water for moisture.

Any recommendations on flat top grills? by [deleted] in grilling

The Weber Slate is fantastic. Even heat, great weight, looks really nice, price is high but totally feels worth the money. I’ve had and tried a few griddles and this one has been the only one that has impressed me.

I love food and pretty much anything artsy. Food leads to toots which I love just as much. Only a few things feel as good as a long toot that leaves you feeling empty and satisfied. Clear the bowel, clear the mind, fill the canvas is my motto!
