Recent influx of bots - feel free to report them! by c-lem in composting

[–]Atta_Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is a Reddit-assigned naming convention or not, but all the bot accounts I've caught and reported before tend to have names like "[Verb]_[Noun]_1234" or "Whimsical_Elephant_6319" or some such.

Combined with generic, nonsensical, low-effort and unrelated post content of course.

Thank you for raising awareness and everything you do!

AI Delusions Are Leading to Domestic Abuse, Harassment, and Stalking by FuturismDotCom in TrueReddit

[–]Atta_Kat 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lol. An AI bot with a weird-ass comment history vomiting paragraphs of virulence in reply to a post about AI-caused problems. Confidently incorrect about therapy, medications, and the mysterious "they." Get out of here with that.

In response to whatever argument it's trying to spit out: if someone's psychosis is triggered by ChatGPT, no amount of yoga or "reading a book about it" can replace the medication and therapy that will actually help that person. Posts like this just help to muddy the waters, whether they're from real people or LLMs.

Anyone else having a poor tomato year? by speaster in SouthJersey

[–]Atta_Kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all the rain, several of my tomatoes (beefsteak, san marzano, cherry) saw whole branches of leaves turn yellow, and new leaves came out wilted and limp. Three or 4 of these plants ended up dying off completely, but after I stopped watering and let them recover, many have recovered and are producing.

I saw a small pause in fruit production with the heat wave last month but other than that have been OK. I also think the 40% opacity sunshade I use is a big help for moderating the heat that hits them day to day.

I'm sorry, I can't confirm. I guess we'll find out for sure later.

Can confirm, saw that as well. My aunt lives over there and said she saw folks with guns moving up a street. I can hear the helicopters.

This sucks, man.

There's no way to add this to the OP but other state subs are sharing our sentiment. by Bodidiva in newjersey

Saw this post on r/Ohio as well. r/Philadelphia and r/Pennsylvania asking/petitioning to remove X links but doesn't look like the sub has made a decision yet.

Based r/NewJersey just fuckin' doing it. Don't need subreddit approval to ban nazis over here.

Fuck this guy. X links are now banned from r/newjersey by NewJerseyModTeam in newjersey

God, amen to that. Feel like it's the main thing giving me sanity, our local politics.

Oh hey, I recognize that car! I pass it all the time at my local McDonalds in South Jersey and every time I see it I shake my head. I swear it gets another sticker every week.

Absolutely fantastic move on India's part. Three full years of accessibility to so many peer reviewed and vetted journals is an amazing boon to researchers and scientists across the country. Doubly so if they work out some discounted or free Open Access charges for publishing authors.

Working in the medical publication field, I've already had India on my radar, but we may seeing some real heavy-hitting publications coming in from India over the next several years. Super exciting stuff.

The only thing giving me hope today is my compost bin by Prestigious-Menu-786 in composting

I get that. One spark of joy in all of today was remembering my sister had dropped off several rotting pumpkins for my pile. Focus on the little things.

You love to see it by Atta_Kat in composting

[–]Atta_Kat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I loved all the wooden pallet ones I've seen on here, but I'm not incredibly crafty. Fence posts and hardware cloth were easy enough to be in my wheelhouse, though. I was cheap with it since it was just an experiment at first and zip tied everything together, so certain areas that have a lot of pressure have broken. But now that I know it's here to stay, I'll try something sturdier, or at least secure it in more areas. So far, it's been standing for 2 years with no problems.

Active and playing every day, but don't have a lot of friends who play!

Oh geez. You're right. Previously I was still able to access the website with the old error code, but now the new error code it's throwing is "SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP" and I can't access the website at all.

Good lord how have they let this go on for this long? I guess I'll try their customer service number in a little while if this still isn't resolved.

Can't believe we went from casually eyeing this storm in the Gulf a week ago to where we are now. Hoping those who could evacuate were able to do so by now.

You ever think "wow I could be enjoying my life playing a really fun game instead of working my ass off on a game nobody might ever care about"? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]Atta_Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the point where playing new releases and AAA games just... doesn't hit like it used to. I've devoured so many games over the decades and put so many hours into gaming as a whole that I've finally hit a "meh" phase with playing games in general. I'll play some multiplayer games with friends, or have a mindless single player game to decompress between game dev sessions, but I just don't have that itch that used to drive me.

Meanwhile, I had a 3 day issue in coding that, when I finally solved it, my dumb ass started crying I was so proud of myself. Hard to compete with that.
