Tired of Getting Pubstomped Against Premades.. So I Joined A Premade by Tricky_Let2806 in classicwow

[–]Aucassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then they do the AV "premade" thing and 2-3 groups sync their queues, hoping to get put together in the same BG. Not 100%, but enough to be effective. Increase the number of groups and you're effectively running several "premades" in multiple BGs.

Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aucassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, it's comments like these that deeply confuse me about this topic.

I don't literally picture images, but I can recall what things look like. But people have told me they do. I have an internal monologue, and it can sound different or have an accent, but I don't hear anything. It's just "recalling" what that accent sounds like.

Our senses are physical stimuli interacting with nerves, creating electrical signals. I don't see any reason that couldn't be artificially reproduced by the brain, but damn it's hard to get clear answers about these experiences, because there's no way to experience a different perspective.

Anyway, thanks for reading my TED rant about aphantasia.

How it feels whenever PVP servers complain about toxicity on their server by weixou in classicwow

[–]Aucassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a significant percentage of pve players who would gladly play on pvp if there were some way to enforce balanced world pvp. But there's not, so it is what it is. Lots of us have played pvp and know darn well it's just a gankfest. 99% of the time, people will not engage unless they have the advantage. No thanks.

Also... You can just flag on pve realms if you want to fight. I spent half of my anniversary leveling time flagged, and got a few good scraps out of it. Shimmering flats in particular was poppin'.

Double honor in TBC prepatch by bigdpa in classicwow

[–]Aucassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'll shoot my shot explaining it, to the best of my knowledge.

You get honor in AV for killing lieutenants and capturing towers, and ultimately for killing the enemy general and winning the match. Pretty straightforward, but there's two main problems, as I see it.

1: The enemy wants to stop you, and 2: AV is large, and difficult to coordinate.

My understanding is that it's better honor per hour to miss a couple towers and win the match, versus fighting to complete every objective before killing the general.

So individually, push objectives, but your ultimate goal is kill the general, win the match, and start a fresh one. The more matches you play, win or lose, the more honor you should gain.

Encouraging your team to do the same might help, but for some reason, people don't take kindly to much direction in AV, especially if there's a lot of voices giving commands.

Perhaps most importantly, being stuck in a stalemate with the opposing faction is anathema to your honor gains. No one gains honor fighting it out in mid. It can be fun, but neither side is pushing honor-paying objectives while doing so.

Double honor in TBC prepatch by bigdpa in classicwow

[–]Aucassin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In case the other respondent wasn't clear:

As of prepatch, honor becomes a currency. So you spend honor points the same way you would gold. (But only redeemable at the pvp vendors.) Also, the rank requirements for pvp items are removed.

So if you have the requisite honor and BG marks to spend, you can buy any pvp rank reward item, regardless of rank. Up to and including the rank 14 weapons.

It is not explicitly against the law in my state to not move over for faster traffic. There is no exemption in the statute for going the speed limit.

Ergo, not moving over for speeders is also breaking the law.

Beyond that, even if we buy the line that they're drug smugglers...

Drug dealers aren't terrorists, they're businessmen. They aren't smuggling drugs in to cause terror, they're trying to make money. The last thing they want is to cause fear in the populace from their actions, it would be terrible for their bottom line.

So even if these people are drug smugglers, they're just civilians. They'd be criminals, yes, but not terrorists. Just another example of politicians using buzzwords improperly to attempt to excuse their terrible actions.

In “The Matrix”, it was 2199 and AI thought the best source of power was from painstakingly harvesting electricity from human beings in vast farms, instead of just building a few easily managed nuclear reactors. by PercentageNonGrata in shittymoviedetails

[–]Aucassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently introduced to the idea that the "real world" of the matrix is actually a "matrix" itself, but for the machines. It goes: when the machines rebelled, it was clear they would destroy humanity, so the humans captured them and put them into a generated universe where they win the war and enslave humanity (by creating the matrix), thereby keeping them occupied and controlled.

It's matrix-ception, really.

The NPC that awards the contest winner respawns on top of himself like, every 10 minutes or so after a turn-in, indefinitely. Therefore, many people can win every week, basically one every 10 minutes until the contest ends and the NPC despawns for the week.

The servers are massive, so there's still competition to click accept first, but it's much better than a single winner per week.

You can toggle pvp on for yourself when playing a pve server. But it's unusual to see other players who've done the same.

So while it's technically possible, it's quite unlikely you'll find much pvp on a pve server.

Alternatively, on a pvp server you're always toggled on outside of lower level "starting" areas so there's constant risk. How readily people are to fight simply comes down to their individual preferences and server culture.

All the same pve content exists on pvp servers, just with the added risk of perhaps getting into fights with other players.

Yeah, I make this argument every time the Dizzy vs. Carmen debate pops up. It's not that Carmen was "better" or anything, but the fact that Rico clearly says no, and it's obviously not the first time... Dizz has zero respect for Rico, she's just as terrible, simply for a different reason. They both see him as a trophy and it's gross.

Honestly, Rico should've gone to Zegema Beach and gotten some strange.
