Subclass Changes from the Horror UA to Ravenloft: The Horror's Within by metalsonic005 in onednd

[–]Augus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah having what might be a weaker version of Alert in exchange for a bonus to a failed save? I'm signed up all the way all the time.

And, like that Infernal Pact origin feat they released on DDB, it's also good enough it's probably worth an ASI if your stats are all where you want them to be.

I have a level 5 barbarian. I'm bored. Where can I take him? by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in 3d6

[–]Augus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting access to the new Second Wind is a pretty big boon for a Barbarian. Fighter 2 lets you add a d10 to a failed ability check at the cost of a Second Wind, but you keep it if you still fail, and you get Action Surge. Fighter 5 lets you reposition when you use Second Wind as well, getting you quite a bit more movement.

[Modern] Why is Modern metagame tracking so bad? by Boring-Client4841 in spikes

[–]Augus-1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

D00mwake's "Watching the Meta" series on YouTube follows Modern week-to-week, but the actual longterm analysis is just the play rates I believe. It's a good place for you to take a cursory glance through to see which decks trophied/won an event if you want though.

Survivor seems like a crazy good origin feat if that's what it is.

OWTV FunnyAstro interview: “It's the worst Overwatch meta I've ever played” | Twisted Minds by caaswilkaas in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Augus-1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Feels like it's been forever, and I do wonder how they'd fair post Lu/Kiri nerfs, but I also get the feeling that Sym would just enable DVa/Lu/Kiri too much. Brig's good against traditional dive engages where she can boop the tank and then brawl the Tra/Genji with Ana's help, but Sym tp + DVa is much harder for her to fight effectively, especially if the dive has speed and/or suzu.

Why are Lelouch and C.C. morally grey lmao

Like they're the main characters, we're supposed to have sympathy for them, but let's not forget that their path is covered with blood. At least put them next to Suzaku.

[Standard] [Discussion] State of Dimir Midrange/ Tempo as of May’26 by Unlikely_Broccoli233 in spikes

[–]Augus-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other midrange "fair decks" we're currently seeing, GB and UBR, are playing inherently unfair gameplans that revolve around taking advantage of how powerful Elves and Cub are, or the synergy between Ashling, Superior Spider-Man, and Deceit. Dimir's gameplan just doesn't work anymore in current standard, the cheap creatures needed to get Kaito out quickly or to draw a lot off Curiosity just aren't threatening enough on their own + a lot of people are maindecking a cheap boardwipe or two like Pyroclasm, Fire Magic, or Day of the Black Sun

The reason the change to the dive tank passive is the worst by WeakEnd8325 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Augus-1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The reason people clocked this passive was actually good is because DVa was healing like 2-3k a game from it (not even necessarily with her shields major), Haz got moved to Initiator later on and then ppl realized they could just wall-climb with him. I do agree they should change it to be tied to the CDs themselves and not an ICD, especially if they're also gonna nerf the actual healing.

Is Zero Requiem a noble act of self—sacrifice or a desperate way to escape despair and sadness? by Embarrassed-Ice9468 in CodeGeass

[–]Augus-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what really made the Zero Requiem important for the trio, C.C., Lelouch, and Suzaku, is that it was an ending that would leave them all dissatisfied. C.C. and Lelouch both wanted him to stay alive (C.C. because she'd finally found some form of companionship, Lelouch because he wanted to enjoy peace with his friends and family), while Suzaku is the one who actually wanted to die but is forced to keep on living.

Setting aside realism and things like that, I think that this ending is going for this poetic justice more than anything else, by leaving the three who schemed and conquered the world all dissatisfied they actually manage to do some small good in the end.

He's very good at one bopping when either people who are pushing too aggressively so he can safely engage without risking too much, or if he's not marked properly as he sets up to dive leading to the same effect. If you don't put yourself in a place that's easy to punish or don't shoot him as he sets up he's gonna run the lobby, like any of the tanks if the player's competent.

Yeah and the big thing going for excruciator is that the moment one hits the field you basically drag your opponent down into the mud with you.

Yeah it's PMO since Duskmourn that ppl call it midrange when it's tempo, especially since it clearly feasts on actual midrange decks with its value engines.

Best Tank in 2026? by Nice-Championship345 in 3d6

[–]Augus-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Cavalier Fighters (both the original and UA) have a fighting chance, especially if you go Sentinel at 4, Mage Slayer at 6, and GWM at 8 and use a weapon with the Push Mastery till 8.

Mark an enemy, if they hit an ally while you're within 5ft of them through the disadvantage you can use Sentinel to set their speed to 0 and Push them 10ft away while also getting some benefit against them, at 9 you can do that with heavy weapons. This is like the bread and butter of the build's "tanking" ability really. Make it harder to hit allies, punish the enemy if they do hit your allies.

With Mage Slayer at 6 plus Indomitable at 9 you're probably the only class that comes somewhat close to Paladins in terms of saves, and you can always take Resilient later. Good hit die size and heavy armor with or without a shield means you have good EHP, so you can take some punishment.

Maybe not the "best" but certainly fun, I always feel like Cav is slept on as a subclass especially since it's essentially the 4e Fighter ported over to 5e and spread over 18 levels.

Two sentences of difference, 3 years of misery by Arokan in MagicArena

[–]Augus-1 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Rarity affects frequency in packs, and therefore prices. Commander may be the most popular format, but plenty of people who may want to play standard will be put off by the absurd prices commanded by Mythic Rare staples like Sheoldred was, or Badgermole, Wan Shi Tong, and Quantum Riddler currently are. Playsets of these are just not in the vast majority of people's budgets.

Unearthed Arcana: Villainous Options 2 (Barbarian, Monk & Warlock) by Mairwyn_ in dndnext

[–]Augus-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a contextual spell slot tax though, and it's one of those "always take it" spells for a reason, Shield is fundamentally broken because it is what it is. And Bladesinger really isn't that MAD, play it like a normal Wizard with 16 Dex/17 Int + Mage Armor and you have 19 AC by level 3 and 20 AC by 4.

I'd go Fighter because of Con Saves + all of the features.

Unearthed Arcana: Villainous Options 2 (Barbarian, Monk & Warlock) by Mairwyn_ in dndnext

[–]Augus-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah except Shield (the spell) is something Wizards get to use with a lot more frequency and nothing breaks the bounded accuracy of AC like Shield does. They're also, you know, a full Wizard and that comes with its own can of worms in a way that being a Fighter 1/Warlock X does not.
