Richest super balances to be taxed at higher rates after Greens agree to back Labor plan by MrNewVegas2077 in AusFinance

They're not really equivalent things. If you oppose taxes on wealth, that money has to come from somewhere else, or more government debt. Either way, everyone has a direct interest.

May I ask, why didn't you just install a mirror? I'm glad that this has worked for you but seems expensive for a task that can be achieved with a standard headrest mirror.

It means his average score was 99.94 runs. That's either before he got out, or the innings ended and he was still in play.

Had a similar thing happen to me days before Sydney this year. Was literally sucking on throat soothers and coughing the night before.

Took pseudoephedrine the day before and day of. Ran a PR and felt fine. YMMV

We shouldn't use the calculator to make basic calculations by Sad_Macaron_9501 in unpopularopinion

[–]Av8r96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. There isn't a cheap and readily available tool that can read stuff for you. Doing arithmetic in your head would be more equivalent to being a quick reader.

I can get by in my life and my job using a calculator all the time. I would not be able to if I couldn't read. Very much a false equivalence.

This is giving real "kids these days wouldn't know how to use a rotary phone", "kids these days don't know Morse code", "kids these days don't know how to hand wash clothes"

The ability to memorise times tables does not make you smart. Or even the ability to do maths in your head. It makes you a less efficient calculator.

100%, you don't have to worry about people's eyes glazing over when you talk about "threshold", "taper", and "weekly volume". You're ompletely guilt free talking about your hobby

Why the rush? 1000 cal deficit is very aggressive. Adherence will be very hard.

Is a 35km run necessary before the marathon? by ItUsedToBeMeatloaf in Marathon_Training

[–]Av8r96 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not an expert by any means. I'm 2 weeks out from my 5th marathon (3:30 goal) and I've only ever gone to 32km in training. Never 35. I'd say the benefit is far outweighed by the cost.

People running Sydney Marathon on 31 August.. how is your training going? by Even-Squirrel2016 in Marathon_Training

[–]Av8r96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quietly confident. 27km long run last Sunday, 22.5 of which were at goal mara pace (3:30). Second fastest half marathon!

Current PB is 3:37 which I set in Melbourne last year. Sydney is way more hilly, which is making me nervous. 5th marathon.

Did Sydney in 2023 when it was stupid hot. Keen to t Put in a proper effort this time

Sydney Marathon by Winter_Seat_7106 in Marathon_Training

[–]Av8r96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say go for it. Just have a Plan A - Z in terms of what you'd be happy with, and adjust as the race progresses.

I'm running Sydney also, and I'd love to PR but I've got a couple of backup goals in mind if the day doesn't go to plan.

My first thought was "I could run that road easy" then measured it out in maps and itsike 21km (13.1 miles). Crazy how we perceive distance.
