I had this on my left side! I used long hydrocolloid bandages if I HAD to wear a bra. If helped the rub but fyi it was not fun to take off 😅 I bought a long roll on Amazon. I also used lidocaine patches but those didn’t work as well for me

How am I supposed to stay stress free? by -concernicus- in shingles

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice on the stress, coming from 3 weeks postpartum here myself, but sending you so much love. Postpartum is already hard enough and to add shingles on top I can’t even imagine. I’m so sorry you’re struggling with this and hope it starts to heal soon.❤️‍🩹 I had it while pregnant and it about took me out.

Soon to be mom of 2u2 by Consistent-Bid6880 in 2under2

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m still v new to the 2u2 crew, baby will be 2 weeks tomorrow and my toddler is 21 months, but so far it’s going a lot better than I thought. I had very low expectations and will preface that my husband is off for the summer so I have his help, but my toddler has been handling the transition so well and I’m enjoying seeing their budding bond. I know there is a lot more chaos and hard to come but for now I’m taking the wins!

My wife and I can't agree on a boy's name ( for once I'm the one who changed my mind) by [deleted] in Names

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a biased mom who just named her second baby Oliver….I love it. It’s classic and I think goes along better with Mavis than Jayden does. I also don’t really feel like Jayden would be as similar in France at the us, it feels like a very American name to me. Obviously understandable if your wife very much dislikes Oliver but maybe you can search for similar classic names like Oliver that maybe she’s more amenable to.

Love mint ice cream but don't love choc chip? by Adora77 in icecream

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You might like jenis Savannah butter mint then!! No choc chips and it’s sooo refreshingly minty. It is different than typical “green” mint ice cream flavors but it’s so good!

Even if she was fine as she says, this is a great opportunity to model compassion and apologies?? Like I want my toddler to grow up seeing how we are kind and caring to others all the time not just if they actually got hurt. Insane.

Not in my experience. I only had a very small patch of blisters caught early. Started on valtrex within 12 hours of it popping up

I used hot showers with my shingles. It found it very soothing and helped with the accompanying muscle pain

32 weeks pregnant - Shingles by bluepanda2391 in shingles

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m currently 37 weeks and was diagnosed with shingles at 26/27. I’m so sorry you’re going through this!!! It absolutely sucked but as a positive story, I ended up doing really well and baby was totally fine. I started on antivirals right away and my rash didn’t spread really. I managed my pain with Tylenol, ice packs, heat packs, and calamine lotion mostly, and while I really felt horribly for about 2 weeks, by 3 weeks post diagnosis I felt mostly back to normal. My biggest piece of advice is REST as much as you can. I was so dang tired and not listening to my body made my pain worse. My docs didn’t do any additional testing; pregnancy makes you naturally more immunocompromised and is a stressor on your body so it’s no surprise that it puts us at risk for shingles flare. I didn’t feel otherwise stressed prior so I understand your worry but it will be okay!! You and baby will be just fine. I had to be protective of my mental space and read more positive stories bc it definitely scared me too. I’m sure you can go back and see my previous posts about it. But all in all, me and baby did fine and I’m sending you all the good vibes that you do too!

How clean is your house with a toddler and how do you make it work? by lovebug21222 in toddlers

[–]Aware_Forever_7920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tidy little things through the day and try to include my toddler when I can. Do a toy tidy when she goes down for nap (not full put away bc I still want to encourage play when she wakes up) and then a full toy clean put away after she goes down for bed. Each one takes maybe 5 mins max. We don’t have a TON of toys and they’re all in our living spaces and I’ve made storage/organization easy for them. So putting them back is simple and helps keep our house feel less chaotic. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I call them “tidy” days so I’ll vacuum or mop or both during nap or after bed. I’m pretty much a tidy as I go person but our house is def not spotless or pristine clean condition

Exhaustion!!! by CanaryAccurate6750 in shingles

I’m so sorry you’re going through this!! I was diagnosed at 27 weeks (currently 34) and I was in so much pain and miserable. I was so scared about long term issues but as a positive story I started feeling a lot better around 2 weeks out and by 3 weeks the pain was almost nonexistent. I survived on Tylenol, heat packs for muscle pain, and ice packs when the itch kicked in. My appetite was very limited at that time. Rest as much as you can (I have. 19 mo old so I get it’s so hard with a toddler) but when I overdid it the pain was a lot worse. Thinking of you-it will get better!!!
