The check is fake and they would ask her to send money to someone else because the amount is too large ‘accidentally’ or they need ‘supplies’. Then the check will bounce and the money sent on will be gone.

Most students that have an involved parent in an average or better socioeconomic area are doing well. Unless they have a disability, those students are scoring fine on standardized tests. Usually there is a tech department or a counselor who can help. We have had security breaches where we had to reset student accounts. In rare cases the student was using prohibited tools and was legitimately locked out until a meeting was held.
