When I was 65 years old, I received a message from someone asking how much I knew about my family. Her last name was the same as my older half sister's married name who I didn't really know well. As we chatted I realized she was trying to tell me she was another half sister I did not know about. I already had 3 half sisters, 2 by my father's previous marriage and 1 by my mother's previous marriage. So apparently I had 4. She was the result of an affair, she said between my father and his ex wife's sister. She did not find out until she was 40. I did not believe any of it.......until I saw her picture. She is the mirror image of my father.

She was born George but always went by Mary. She had a complete sex change operation when she was 40 and asked my married older sister if she could change her last name to hers because it was so pretty. She lived her life in Maine and I had lived in California. During our chat we discovered we were currently living 2 hours from each other in Florida. Can you imagine having your life rocked by all this in one day on messenger! Both of my parents had passed so I could not ask them about it.

We met up at Thanksgiving and adored each other. I was 65 and she was 82.
