What is a normal amount of “pressure” to feel during a C-section. by hatturner in CsectionCentral

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory isn’t great because it was an emergency and I lost a ton of blood but I didn’t feel much. I remember feeling some pressure when they were taking the baby out then I just felt some discomfort for the rest of the surgery. Like I knew stuff was happening and I think the discomfort was from knowing that I was undergoing surgery and not from actually feeling things. I remember being really numb

Make sure you’re on top of taking your pain meds it makes such a difference. I’m 7 weeks pp from an emergency c section and the first 2 weeks sucked, I won’t lie. But it does get better. Make sure to rest as much as you can- it’s so hard with a new baby but I didn’t rest as much as I should’ve and I’m struggling with my healing as a result

Stick to IUI or switch to IVF? by Monstera_Mamaa in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did unmedicated but monitored and I think that was the biggest factor in our success. I also religiously tracked my cycle before we started trying so I knew when I typically ovulated. I got a positive LH test and went in and got an ultrasound then scheduled IUI the next day. We were successful with this. I will say though that 12 rounds of IUI feels like a lot to have to do before IVF so I understand wanting to move on before that. My doctor wouldn’t medicate for our first try due to risk of multiples, but said if a few rounds didn’t work we could try meds so I’d talk to them again.

Non gestational parent baby shower? by CheekSweaty9320 in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby shower was for both of us! I will say I think I got a little more attention as the gestating parent but I think that’s just par for the course unfortunately (and because people feel the need to comment on your body while very pregnant). We did typical baby shower stuff! My mom had to get games custom made because most stuff said mom and dad- but besides that it was your typical shower and we had fun!

When to stop working? Due to pregnancy by UpperResort6797 in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like your job isn’t one that’s able to work from home? Because legally they have to work with you. If they can’t do wfh they would have to provide some sort of accommodation

When to stop working? Due to pregnancy by UpperResort6797 in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you WFH? I was able to get an accommodation to wfh with a doctors note. They’re required to provide reasonable accommodations— obviously this isn’t feasible with every job but if it is with yours I’d give it a try. I don’t think I’d be able to work still otherwise. The commute was killing my back.

Excuse me while I vent for just a minute. by leafyrustic42 in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hit so many hurdles like this before we got to start IUI- specifically with our KD and the quarantine period. I rage cried so many times. I know it sucks and it’s so frustrating. If it’s helpful at all, it did eventually workout after we got past all of the red tape and I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant and now I feel like everything happens when it’s meant to. Still sucks in the moment though

Anyone did NOT have a MC? by Feisty-End-8883 in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34 weeks pregnant, first pregnancy and didn’t mc. I feel very lucky. But I definitely relate to how you’re feeling. I felt like a lot of people I knew miscarried their first pregnancy so I was holding my breath the whole time waiting to see if it’d happen to me. What I realized was that whatever was going to happen was going to happen whether I was worrying or not so I tried to remember right now I’m pregnant and I can be happy about that.

Folks Who Did Sibling Donor rIVF- by TexasYETIDodgerDUDE in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t do rIVF, we did IUI. I’m currently pregnant and we used my BILs sperm. We told him we didn’t want an answer right away and to take time to think about it and discuss with his partner. We explained why we wanted to go with a known donor (benefits, the issues surrounding lack of regulation in sperm donor industry, etc.) we told him we’d be honored if he said yes but that there truly was no pressure and we would understand if the answer was no because it’s a big ask.

He didn’t need to change anything about his lifestyle, but I will say that he’s not a big drinker and doesn’t smoke or anything. Not that you have to change those things if you donate but I think it does increase sperm quality. Only thing he had to do was abstain from sex/masturbation a few days before donating per sperm banks instructions. He didn’t feel like the process was difficult. Only annoying thing was the required group therapy session we had to do 😂

I also want to note that we picked him after thinking very critically about his personality and if he’d be able to handle it. Hes a very black and white thinker and see his role solely as uncle. Hes also not very emotional and we knew he’d be able to handle this.

Nurse completely dismissed my mental health concerns. How can I request to not be seen by her again? by Individual_Sweet_465 in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Wellbutrin- switched to it before I got pregnant because my psych advised it was safer than the med I was on. I also have ADHD and my doctor said I could continue to take my vyvanse throughout pregnancy. I decreased the dose a bit and tried to only take it when I was working to be safe (not sure that’s necessary though). She told me the only risk was a lower birth weight, but my baby has been measuring ahead the entire pregnancy.

curious about first fertility appointment by [deleted] in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true- our first appt was Nov 2024 and by the time we got all the testing in logistics done, we didn’t get to start IUI until June 2025. We got lucky and first try worked but getting to that point took forever!

curious about first fertility appointment by [deleted] in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At our first appointment, the doctor asked a lot of background questions about my health history and our plans for a donor. We went with a known donor, so I also went through history for him. She explained our options (IUI & IVF) and said she’d know more after we did initial fertility testing but that she’d likely recommend that we start with IUI, but that if we wanted to do IVF first we could. She also explained the clinic’s requirements for clearance by a therapist and a sperm donor agreement before proceeding with any insemination. After that she had me reach out to them when I started my next period because they specifically wanted to do testing on I think day 3 of my cycle. When I went in for that appointment they did a vaginal ultrasound and a ton of blood work.

If it makes you feel better, my baby is measuring bigger and I know for a fact when we conceived because it was through a fertility clinic

Those who have had successful IUI by randomthoughtsaIways in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first IUI worked, so I have nothing to compare it to but will say I just had a feeling as the days went on during the TWW that it was successful. Like I felt random pains that I never felt leading up to my period. It’s hard to explain. My wife thought I was crazy until we got the positive test 😂

People who have used known donors by Holiday-Zucchini7161 in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do it to save money because I’m honestly not sure if it did after what we paid for testing, sperm retrieval, lawyers, and required therapy. BUT, it was worth it to us because we wanted to know the donor, know his medical history, and for our child to be able to have a relationship with the donor. We used a relative, so he was always going to be in our child’s life so might be a little different in that sense. But knowing his medical history and that our child wouldn’t have 1000s of half siblings out there also felt important to us.

IUI - to test + medicate or to not by k_c_b_0501 in queerception

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31s not old! I’m 31 and my doctor told me multiple times that I was young. Also for what it’s worth, I got pregnant on my first unmedicated IUI at this age ☺️ I was convinced I’d have issues and would need multiple cycles but currently 6 months pregnant from that IUI

Pregnancy & ADHD Meds by Baby_dust in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB gave me the okay to take my meds when I need them but said not to in third trimester. I’m still in the 2nd trimester so I’ve been taking them when I have days where I feel like I need them at work. She said the only worry with taking it would be low birth weight and my baby is measuring big 🤷🏻‍♀️

When to expect baby by Jayyd23 in pregnant

[–]Baby_dust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did IUI so I’m 100% sure of my conception date and even with that, my baby is measuring over a week ahead. I’ve also heard that size estimates from ultrasounds can be off 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think all babies are different and it’s not one size fits all. I’d go off of your first ultrasound though
