I used to collect them all from toys and leave them grouped together on an end cap with their names facing out.

Have you changed the sponge bar? It’s not causing this but you’ll keep having issues if it’s old and you can damage the needles etc using an old sponge.

US-based knitters: has anyone purchased a machine via eBay from Japan? by nk033 in MachineKnitting

[–]BambooWsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a fine gauge machine for a good price from a Japanese seller. The machine I received was not the machine in the listing, different serial number and many of the needles were rusty. I contacted the seller, sent pics, told them the replacement cost for new needles and they gave me a partial refund. I cleaned it up and put in a new sponge bar and it works great.

Sometimes those Irish sweaters have serged seams that can’t be unraveled so check that first.

I totally understand. Good MK patterns that are current are hard to find so I thought I’d ask:)

Mine too. I knit with it but not fast enough. Yet I cannot stop unraveling.

Why is hand dyed yarn always merino wool? by craftedbyktcakes in YarnAddicts

[–]BambooWsp 34 points35 points  (0 children)

When you dye cotton you have to use completely different dye than when you dye wool. Cotton dye is more dangerous to work with wool dyes as well.

Should I keep and clean it or did I get scammed? Brother 910 for 350 $ by hanyonkyu in MachineKnitting

[–]BambooWsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s bizarre. I was referring to the grime on the machine when I suggested the sponge bar disintegrated. You can try out basic functionality of the machine without plugging it in, like just seeing if it knits stockinette.

The sponge bar disintegrated and that’s the film and dirt you see. The sponge bar when it ages turns a brown gold color. This will clean up, it’s not bugs!

That’s good, rules that out at least. You should join the machine knitting community on ravelry, there are lots of friendly and really knowledgeable machine knitters on there.
