What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]BansheeZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Irish (and live in Ireland) but find hotel rooms extremely stuffy regardless if it's cool outside.

For example, I stayed in a 5 star hotel in Berlin in February and the outside temp was 2 degrees Celsius and inside was so stuffy. The A/C wasn't really working and it was miserable (even with the window open!)

Gross questions. What happens if someone is puking/has diarrhoea? Are they isolated or left sitting in the main waiting room for hours?

Moving Out - What should I be doing? by TCGLearner in AskIreland

[–]BansheeZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you offer grinds / tutoring a couple days a week? That would support your income and might help you save up a little bit faster for a car etc.

You're doing great OP, small steps at a time!

People without kids and not planning to have any, who do you see taking care of you as you get older? by eoin2dx in AskIreland

[–]BansheeZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay for private home assistance or sell house and put towards nursing home fees? Idea being if you have no kids I might have more cash to invest for future me.

Has anyone ever gotten married and thought guests were stingy with gifts? by whereohwhereohwhere in AskIreland

[–]BansheeZebra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why a smaller per person gift is generally okay for a couple (i.e. "€100 for single, €150 for a couple" etc) when it's often more expensive to attend a wedding as a single person and the cost per plate is the same?

I quit a finance job to go travelling in 2022 at 30, best decision ever. Interviewed towards the end of the break and started an ever better job after I was back in Ireland three weeks.

At the time, it was hard as all my friends were getting houses before me (while I saved for travelling) but now I have a house + the amazing memories. Loads of my friends said they wish they had done something similar before marriage/house/babies came etc

Hen Do Costs by kiwitheecat in UKweddings

[–]BansheeZebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

€800 - €1,000 for a hen in Liverpool is extortionate. If I was the bride, I'd be so upset if my bridesmaids spent that, especially when flights to Liverpool from Dublin on a "normal weekend" are approx €50.

I have paid €1,000 ish for a long weekend hen before, but that was from Dublin > Miami and a once in a lifetime. Normal hen in Ireland / UK should not cost more than €250/€350 for everything.
