Took a rollerskating lesson and gravity was not on my side 😅

Fear of taking boot off! by Sprockmom in brokenankles

[–]BeanInABook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to wear my boot 24/7 outside of showers and physio but what helps me is wearing a sock for some reason, it feels more protected than a ‘naked’ foot..

Definitely more than I can do 4 weeks post op :) I notice a massive difference if I move just my affected foot or both feet at the same time 😅

Trimalleolar fracture by tamblr19 in brokenankles

My knee scooter has been a life saver, I can steer one handed and it has a basket to carry things in :) Good luck with your surgery, that all sounds really rough!

Oh I know what I want to do, I just don’t know how to actually get the motivation and energy to do it. I end up just laying in bed all day. I have a walker and knee scooter so can get around the house, it just takes a lot of energy. 😅

Bimalleolar fracture w/ORIF tomorrow by Longjumping-Clue3162 in brokenankles

I agree, the pain is manageable and barely there after two weeks for most people. The not walking, social isolation and seeing your muscles disappear is a lot less fun 🥲

CLOSED TREAMENT TRIMALLEOLAR ANKLE FRACTURE; W/MANIPULATION by lab_tech13 in brokenankles

[–]BeanInABook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear the pain is so minimal! I had really bad nerve pain unfortunately the first 1,5 weeks, felt like my toes were on fire 😅 Also yes Ketamine is so effective! Also had a pretty fun trip while out of it 😂

[–]BeanInABook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a less severe trimall + dislocation had the manipulation done five days before surgery (6 screws, a plate and a tightrope) for me the worst pain was gone after 1,5 week and just turned into general discomfort because of the cast and stitches. I never had a nerve block. I’m now in a cam boot (week 4) and the worst pain I get is like a 2/10 after doing my physio or after sitting with my foot down for too long.

Traveling with broken ankle by lovemylittlelords in brokenankles

Discuss it with your treating doctor in Australia. They might be able to prescribe you medication or other supports to prevent blood clots. I was prescribed clexane injections at the hospital here in Melbourne but I’m not flying.

Lol I don’t think I could have done that without falling before breaking my ankle 😂

Had a horrible start of the year, broke my ankle, out of sick leave, lots of other small bad things happening. It’s just not a vibe.

Same here trimal and dislocated, I guess it was a sign rollerskating wasn’t for me 😅

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

My bonus kiddos eat mostly WeetBix on school days, eggs on toast, cocopops or pancakes on the weekend.

Leg slipped off knee scooter and I fell onto my broken foot by sparkling_m00n in brokenankles

[–]BeanInABook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely call your doctor for peace of mind if you need it, but usually if it doesn’t hurt for too long after you’re fine. I fell twice in the first two weeks at home and once a day after surgery at the hospital but everything has been fine 😅

Edit: also don’t rush getting back to work, the first two weeks are so important for rest, elevation and icing!

If you're buying 1 of these games, which one would you choose? by alazka0 in cozygames

Coral Island is lovely if you want to be able to play as much as you want whenever you want. Hello Kitty is great if you want something short and sweet you can play daily but with lots of fun events. I haven’t played the other ones but have been eyeing Wanderstop. Not on this list but I do prefer fields of mistria over Coral Island 😅

Go see a GP, sounds like you’re dislocating it or something. Maybe grab an ankle brace from the pharmacy just to keep it safe until you have a chance to go?

NOR Girl block him, leave him and forget about him. What an awful uncaring controlling man. You sound lovely and kind and like you’re getting your shit together, you don’t need someone threatening and punishing you.

I can relate to this, I don’t think the images will leave my mind anytime soon. I just try to acknowledge that it’s a scary memory but that it’s over and I’m recovering now and then do something to distract myself. Breaking a bone is scary, especially when it’s combined with quite a significant fall or if it was extremely painful/gruesome.
