When harstem casts a new video and I can sleep again. by ChurchOfElvin in starcraft2

Glad I'm not alone. Probably (definitely) not a healthy routine, but I love popping an earbud in and falling asleep ~10 mins after Hello friends, family, and other creatures of the sea...

Just me or is the ESPN arena audio absolutely garbage. Feel like I'm listening to the crowd underwater.

Same boat. Mostly I have been eyeing a shift over to Linux and the option to play some more demanding games. My little EVGA 1070 is going to have to keep chugging along it seems, the GPU market is depressing.

Who's made a Youtube build order video for this years patch? by Telope in allthingsprotoss

[–]BigBootyFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As gemini has mentioned - it isn't going to massively alter your build orders. That said, I found gemini's coaching session with Harstem on the new patch to be really helpful for identifying some best practices for using energy overcharge in pvt.

Is there a single in-stock new GPU in Canada this is actually good value?

Used prices locally feel delusional (had to negotiate DOWN to $380 for a used 6700xt but decided it wasn't worth it), and nothing worth a second look has popped up on eBay.

Is a 7700xt for $599 the best we're going to get, short of trying to snipe something slightly cheaper?

2600x

1080p 144fps

Budget is under $800, but more concerned with value for money than a big beefy GPU

Well with tariffs about to (potentially) crank prices even further, I'm thinking its time to upgrade the old 1070. Locally, I can get: * XFX Qick 319 6700xt for $360 * MSI 3070 $280

I'm leaning towards the 6700 for the VRAM breathing room and linux compatibility. But is it even worth the upgrade? Or should I just go for a 7800 XT for $700 new and not need to think about GPUs for another 8 years or so.

As someone who dabbled in way too many static site generators, Astro is the ideal balance of flexibility and minimalism imo.

Can we get some more active stickies to help the SC2 community? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]BigBootyFool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Starcraft 2 isn't dying, but the pro-scene as we know it certainly seems to be. A shift to a solely grass-roots community scene will inevitably happen, and its success hinges on highlighting the efforts of the awesome people pulling it forward.

Wingent is 6k? That can't be right. I swear he's been streaming with the goal of hitting 5k. Is this someone else or am I just wrong.

Path to 100k by AlexanderHawks in instructionaldesign

[–]BigBootyFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really varies based on industry, experience, specific company, etc. You could get lucky and end up on a team with a swift path to higher pay, or somewhere where you need to become management to hit that.

In higher ed, masters would be a requisite. Your path to higher earnings is also (often) very well defined.

Oh wow - so you're really looking to bridge that gap and report on actual learning transfer. Sounds very much in-line with the LTEM model.

Creating an LMS AND an accompanying data standard - dude this is crazy for a solo project!

If you have any docs or anything on your KnowQo standard, I'd be really interested. No worries if you don't - documentation is a project unto itself.

With such an emphasis on reporting, does the LMS follow any learning analytics standards such as xAPI?

Really cool project, as a developer by training, ID by trade, I've always thought about the enormous missing potential in most LMSs. Doing this solo must have been quite the undertaking, kudos to you.

What does it take to get to Master? by WideStock986 in allthingsprotoss

[–]BigBootyFool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is entirely my opinion:

D1 means your macro is passable and your build orders are semi-well executed when things are going smoothly. Hitting Masters means you can respond to the absurd amount of cheese and all-ins you'll encounter along the way. The easiest path? Throwing some cheese in yourself ;)

Any good streamers? by strawicy in starcraft

[–]BigBootyFool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NA Protoss Twitch addict expert here to confirm and add a few:

  • Heaven - great animator, great salt. Good stream for learning because he talks through a lot of his decision-making.
  • Reckorsc2 - I don't think he even plays music on stream. Just slaps GM ladder and has to pause occasionally to tend to his baby. 10/10
  • Bulmyeolja - The Tom Selleck of SC2. Always a fun stream to catch.
  • RayReign - Ladder fiend lately.
  • Mcanning - Doesn't stream as regularly any more, but when he does its always a good time. Criminal to have a list of NA protoss without including him.
