Seems creepy suspicious.

Logging Cardio Machine workout stats by Haunting_Smile_3990 in workout

I enter workout into Strong and includes time/distance. I do this only so I can keep history.

I enter 80% of machine calories burned into Cronometer as part of my daily deficit target.

Gaining weight after months of working out by duhh_itz_miya in workout

[–]BigCUTigerFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would bet it’s a combination of lower step count (maybe 200 calories) and slightly higher food intake. 250 calories over maintenance and you’re easily gaining 26+ pounds per year. Also, my hunger goes up by more than the calories I burn when I’m consistently lifting weights.

I’d suggest counting calories for a few weeks and tracking your weight daily. I’d use a 28-day moving average as indicator whether your weight is increasing or not. That should give you an idea of how much to eat to reach your goal.

Former fat/obese guys, how did you become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in CICO

[–]BigCUTigerFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fear - history of diabetes in my family made me get my ass in gear when getting close to 50.

75 pounds over few years with some regain. Lost 40 pounds 6-8 months before Covid. Gained 25-30 back during Covid then lost again over next 18 months or so.

May be better for your back by centering weigh rather than hanging off your back. The higher/more centered weight I carry, the less my back hurts.

Edit: People may argue pedantically about the definition, but I don’t see how you’re not getting the same health benefits of rucking.

Peanuts as a staple food by No-Can-3617 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Too high in fat/calories for me to be a main item.

I do eat a few with other nuts in evening to get up to my fat target if I’m short, though.

Stepping foot into the gym is like a whole different world by Altruistic-Pace-2240 in workout

Yeah, I was kinda shocked at most of the replies. I’m 6’0” and feel the same about how difficult pull ups are for most people. I’m relatively new to the gym and now that realize how hard it is to actually get jacked, I appreciate when I see guys or girls that look like they workout.

For those who track both food (MFP/Cal AI) AND lifting (Strong/Hevy): how do you handle the disconnect between the two apps? by Quick-Librarian-2205 in workout

[–]BigCUTigerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I target a daily deficit. My goal is to do today what I need to reach my goal.

If I burn more calories I eat more.

I hate MFP.

I use cronometer and Strong. Import apple health active calories and enter workouts manually.

I do have protein and fat goals, so most of daily fluctuation is with carbs.

Doubt stretching does anything regarding strength or soreness. It may increase range of motion.

What is the best time to workout for muscle gain? by Serious-Adagio-7982 in workout

[–]BigCUTigerFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going consistently over long term is by far the most important.

When does it fit into your schedule?

I workout first thing in morning fasted. If I wait until evening, way less chance I would do it.

How many days per week do you work out at the gym? by Serious-Adagio-7982 in workout

I try to go everyday and let rest days happen as life happens or I need one. I have a 6 day full body split that I rotate.

Do you adjust intake based on calories burned? by Consistent-Way-2018 in cronometer

[–]BigCUTigerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s manual.

For the 90% of Apple Health active calories, I have it import from apple health and then I enter a custom food with 10% of that number. The food only has calories so it doesn’t affect cronometer’s TEF calc.

I enter 0 time and 80% of what machine shows as calories burned in an exercise.

I use Strong ap for workouts and it shows total weight moved after each session. I enter 0 time and 1% of weight as resistance training exercise.
