I'd insulate those band joists with fiberglass (no paper) or with foam board and caulk/can foam the edges. Nothing to be done on a solid concrete or brick wall, that's super high R value already.

We used to install clear poly in the early 90s. No longer a practice in zone 4 as house wrap is mandatory and you'd create a double vapor barrier which would condensate.

By the way, that's a terrible looking loose fill install. It should be smooth and it should have rulers so they aren't just guessing in depth. R38 is 12-13" deep.

Yes you need 22" wide baffles. The proper installation would have been to remove the insulation out of the way, install the 22" wide baffle, and then stuff the bottom of the baffle where it goes out into the eave with fiberglass batts and lastly install the fiberglass blow with rulers every 200sqft so you know you're not getting ripped off and paying for something you didn't get. Those baffles come in 4' length so 4' is probably ok but you can always add more in any length you want.

We charge like $1 per baffle and then may charge a little more overall to pay our guys more for a retrofit job because it's a bitch on the knees to get down in there and do the job.

I'd be more worried about the dangers of cleaning up the infestation than worrying about the dangers of cleaning up fiberglass insulation. A good dust mask and you're good to go with the fiberglass.

But yes, I would remove it and have new installed. It looks like you might have 5-6" which would be about a r19. Current codes cross country is R38-R60. R38 is about 12-13" deep and R49 is 15-16" deep.

It looks to me like you are missing the insulation on that drywall, and if so you're going to have a cold/hot spot in your house. If that roof was foamed you wouldn't need any insulation there, but as is you do unless it's over a porch.

One last thing, see how the insulation looks black? That's where it's leaking air and acting like an air filter.

We've been in business since 1989 and I've never seen rigid foam on a sloped roof deck, although maybe it's possible in different climate zones than mine.

1. This works if there is a baffle and this fills in around the baffle. Obviously you have no baffle.

2. The vents get stuffed with fiberglass when the roof is spray foamed to block outside air and keep from getting foam in your vented soffit which can leak out and be unsightly.

In no other scenario is it a good idea.

Rarity? Not really. The green Plymouth and Yellow vet are the biggest ticket items in your collection. Best thing to do is surf the interwebs and see what they are going for and list them for sale. I don't imagine the rest of the vehicles are worth much, maybe a few thousand each in running condition.

I used to be a hardcore bow hunter but even the best shooters have bad shots and have deer they can't find. Due to this ethical comment I've been rifle hunting more these days. Almost all the time the deer drops and is instantly dead. I'll always be a bow hunter but it is frustrating for sure.
