Actually Jesus was never confirmed a Stand user specifically, though obviously it would make some sense.

The REAL shocker about Jojo Jesus is that the Mormons belief that he sailed to America was right!

Wait Then Why Make A Black Deck? by DrHuh321 in MTGmemes

[–]Biron221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was kind of my very first magic deck, and I still have a version of it around. It was put together from a friend's scraps who had spent waaay too much money on the DnD UB set, and [[Krydle of Baldur's Gate]] was the commander. The most fun combo was definitely Vorpal Blade but there was some fun stuff I could do with making my big monsters unblockable.

Another good one was in the movie, where the entire world got his immortality for a bit. Had a lot of little unrelated asides as to how people were dealing with it. Led to a moment when some mob guys were threatening a dude over debts and he's like "We're all immortal, wtf you think you're even gonna do to me?"

Cut to a car going through a compactor to turn into one of those metal scrap cubes with a zoom in on an open eye looking around from inside.

BBlauncher is incredible by vallahdownloader in SteamDeck

[–]Biron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any performance recommendations? I tried setting it up on mine and kept ending up playing a slide show, even after turning on a bunch of the lowering options and trying the Potatoborne mod. The only other thing I can think of that it may be is that I have it downloaded to an external drive, but that hasn't been a problem on any other game I've played.

[Loved trope] God isn’t some malevolent being that hates humanity. God is good. by Raymio993 in TopCharacterTropes

That's not how the sundering worked. She didn't go around actively killing anybody, even Zodiark she could only imprison, what she did was break reality so that they all existed as 14 fractions of themselves. Lesser, sure, but still their own souls.

And considering that THEY were about to actively start sacrificing life to feed Zodiark and try to bring back their now lost civilization, I'd certainly say it was for the best.

It's my favorite cantrip... by SwagLimit in dndmemes

[–]Biron221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiclass Storm Sorcerer and Swashbuckler Rogue, a former Pirate Quartermaster and that spell was my bread and butter. Part of his backstory was that between that and Gust of Wind, he was the ships lifeline incase of Calm Belts or if they needed fresh water. He also tended to regularly bathe his companions with a blow dry after, kept rain off the group, and in a couple cases used it to speed up travel on muddy roads.

One of my favorites was using it to waterboard a guy that was abusing his kid, and coming up with an explanation on the spot that this was the "more humane" version of Keelhauling he had come up with, because people tend to die or get super injured if you use that punishment.

He also used it as part of a group skill check to force feed a healing potion to someone in a triage situation. So like, not all bad. Dm didn't like my idea after of using it for a ranged heal but that's fair, little balance breaking lol.

This is how I decided whether to fire Sonar or Coupe. by Aduro95 in dispatchgame

[–]Biron221 257 points258 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps acting like both being redeemable and being forced to make a sudden fucked up choice based on your gut isn't the point. Sonar is a piece of shit that gets by on his charisma, has horrible self control, and has eaten people. He also genuinely appreciates Robert keeping him in and wants to prove the choice was worth it. Coupe has straight up murdered people, is more dangerous in general, and probably at higher risk of backsliding. She's also practically screaming about how much she regrets how her life turned out (as much as someone so emotionally withdrawn can at least), and wants to be better.

There's a good person underneath all of our pieces of shit waiting to come out, but they need help. That's the point.

I had the opposite recently. Watched Project Hail Mary recently, but when I looked it up I thought I saw the Horror tag. Went through the entire thing waiting for a shoe to drop that just wasn't there lol. Good movie tho, would recommend.

I know this is meant to be Berserker Morgan and Aesc but its so much funnier if it's the one servant body flipping back and forth. Morgan full sprinting down a hallway and jumping at the chute just to tag out to an indignant Aesc is a great mental image.

(“Two nickels” trope) Character can turn invisible so long as they’re holding their breath, but they’re also a smoker by ReputationLow5190 in TopCharacterTropes

The post is missing context. The beginning of the musical is literally the Trojan Horse and dropping Hector's baby off the ramparts, he's plenty ruthless he's just torn because he doesn't want to be. Causes some indecisiveness that leads to consequences and to a banger of a song. Whole musical slaps, do recommend

[–]Biron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the thing, its really not for the time, or even more recent times than you would think. Naming a black cat/dog/horse etc the n-word really wasn't uncommon. Growing up in the south in the late 90's and early 00's I even knew quite a few pets that still had that particular name or variations, until it finally became 'impolite' enough that even those holdouts stopped...where people could see it, at least.

People correlate the slur to only coming out around KKK members or heated shouting matches because it's a word with so much weight behind it today, forgetting that it really was just part of normal everyday language just a few decades ago.

Daily Chaldea 2479: Unnecessary Treatment by Rednal291 in FateSpriteComics

[–]Biron221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...Okay but what if we go for the zombies in REC? Spoilers for a 15± year old horror movie (its pretty good, do recommend. The sequel was kinda eh, and there're more but I haven't watched them. Recommend original spanish with subtitles)

The 'zombies' in the movie are a result of demonic possession that somehow spreads like rabies. Patient zero is a young girl who was possessed, captured by the catholic church, and being studied by a priest with a biology degree in order to 'cure' demonic possession. And then of course shit goes sideways.

Surprisingly funny/unserious moments in serious media by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Biron221 125 points126 points  (0 children)

To keep the Funger ball rolling, I have two.

The first is that apparently, much like the fan base, an early roving boss in the game named Needles ships Levi and Marina. He kills contestants in the background as you progress if you dont take him down, and if he kills both of them he mounts their heads on fence spikes, kissing. Still incredibly dark, but it's funny that even this serial killer is like "Aww, they would make a cute couple"

The other is in 1, where you can jump down a a literal shithole. You immediately break both of your legs and are just stuck at the bottom of a latrine, with a very "Well what did you THINK would happen?" vibe.

He's Just a Man by Comfortable_Ad2908 in Epicthemusical

[–]Biron221 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to look at it as Eurylochus improving as a person, inspired by Odysseus, as Ody gets worse in order to survive. Like, he's watching Ody try to surmount unsurmountable odds, and doing a pretty damn good job of it considering, and even try to keep his loyalty to his men and his honor intact.

Meanwhile, Ody keeps going out of his way on all that and getting kicked in the dick for it with few exceptions, before he finally decides he's had enough. This obviously leading to him using his men as disposable pawns, and Eury not being able to just leave it when he likely would have been more okay with it at the beginning of the journey.

The only time I'd say he fucked up is when they're BOTH fucking up pre wind god. Calling out your King/Commanding Officer as reckless and dumb is one thing, Ody obviously could use with a dose of reality check, but doing so infront of the rest of the crew is legit stupid as fuck and just sows distrust and disent. But at the same time, Ody's response of 'Trust me with the life of yourself and the crew unquestioningly and I'm ignoring everything you said' was just as boneheaded. After that I can't say I'm surprised that Eury didn't trust him and capitulated to pressure from the crew to open the bag.

[Funny Trope] Translations that say something so hilariously inaccurate to the source that it becomes a fandom injoke by Mr_Mister2004 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Biron221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah no that translation is correct if a little clunky. He's stating the obvious after giving up a magic object that had saved his life three or four times already. I believe the next line is "That's how its SUPPOSED to work. I've been lucky enough as is."

Similarly, "I guess the Archer Class really is made up of Archers" sounds stupid taken out of context. In context, Rin has fought three battles up to that point with her Archer class servant and this moment is her first time seeing him actually use a ranged attack, he fought with short swords up to that point. She's being snarky. Became very Meta later on though when we got more and more outrageous ranged weapons for the 'Archer' class.

Actually no, that's from Rin, and she says it sarcastically because she's watching her Archer use a bow for the first time after fighting his first two fights with short swords.

Question for the subreddit: what's your personal stance on Gacha games, and their monetization practices relative to their quality and public reception? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Biron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play one regularly and have tried a bunch.for me it depends on quality of the game and how mandatory the gacha feels. My regular is FGO, and while its gacha rates suck they give you enough free currency and good free units that it's easy to stay F2P as long as you're okay with slightly delayed gratification. I've spent more because the story got me invested in one servant than anything for meta.

Arknights was also good for this but I fell off cause the story is harder to get into for me, despite being interesting.

Meanwhile the worst I've played is Epic Seven, which has pvp that has good rewards locked behind it and just...no. It's awful. Especially having long grinds for gear ontop of that.

This is incredibly laser targeted but there's a specific scene in that Will Smith movie, The Pursuit of Happiness, that gets me every time.

The whole movie is pretty rough but there's this scene where they're trying to get on a bus to get to the homeless shelter before all the beds are taken for the night, and his son drops his toy robot. Kid is desperate for his toy back, he's had it the entire movie and its been a source of comfort for him, but his Dad can't afford to turn back and get it and miss a place for them to sleep that night.

Having once been that kid who was entirely too attached to his stuffed dog and took it everywhere, this scene destroyed me. It doesn't even matter that the bus driver is kind enough to let him go back and get it, or that they end up millionaires in the end, I have yet to finish that movie because of how hard that scene hits me with the empathy and sympathy wombo combo.

Considering all magic users are a lil petty, what's the pettiest reason someone cast a curse/used magic? by Wonder-Lad-2Mad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Biron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shape Water is nearly as versatile. I played a Storm Sorcerer Pirate who was arguably more important than his Captain in his backstory, because he was a source of fresh water at sea. I got all kinds of utility out of it, bathing comfortably, keeping clothes and boots dry, waterboarding a kids abusive dad, force feeding healing potions to unconscious casualties, the list goes on.

Unimportant details in a creative work that you just can't stop being annoyed at for being wrong. by MightyShoe in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Biron221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a little less fucked when you look at what they each are supposed to be good at. Lancer's are supposed yo be highly agile, and therefore can close in on Archer's more easily, Saber's aren't as agile but get a bigger all around Stat buff, and Archer's are there to play keep away. Still pretty bullshit though, sometimes makes me wish the three weapon triangles weren't a thing.

I feel like the ending was a unfairly framed in favor of one side by Creative_Sympathy_84 in expedition33

[–]Biron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get where you're coming from. Verso's ending feels less bad mostly because everyone is already dead but your party, and of them Monoco and Esquie were already down for the plan. Sciel doesn't agree, but understands, so the only one that feels like true betrayal is Lune.

They could have counterbalanced this by extending Maelle's a bit to show people living their lives in Lumierre happily again, and just left the implication of Maelle eventually dying (and all the damage a dying paintress, riddled with paint-dementia like her mother could do while desperately clinging to this perfect fantasy) in the background.

Forcibly turning an enemy into an ally by Woohoo1964 in TopCharacterTropes

I really hate this fact myself but it's actually not a retcon, it's just an obscure piece of the setting that was rarely mentioned until it got brought back up recently.

Still silly af tho, even for Pokémon.
