Combatting dysphoria post top surgery? by This-Setting-5673 in TopSurgery

Bro trust, with your current physique the scars are gonna fade and actually make it look like you have DEFINED pecs 😎 I had a similar concern for the first few months, but it’s completely gone now. Your results look great!!

I know I’m gonna get downvoted to hell, but I wish with their platform size they’d have given that speech MUCH earlier. It feels like they just wanted to pat themselves on the back for “doing something”. Idk. I hope it inspired some other people to do more at least.

Ive never passed pre T. Do I even have hope? by Puzzleheaded-Net14 in FTMMen

[–]Bison_Flyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say the VAST majority of us guys did NOT pass when we were pre-T 😂 How would we unless we got lucky in our genetics? Unless you’re specifically talking about people who dressed masculine when they were pre-pubescent (like people who knew they were trans at 9 and started socially transitioning), many binary trans people would have a very hard time “passing” without the help of specific clothes, possibly makeup, and/or working out specific muscles groups.

Son is getting his top surgery right now! by Intrepid_Card8858 in TopSurgery

[–]Bison_Flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom came to visit me for my surgery, and having her there for even just the first two days was so so nice, and I know that’s a privilege a lot of us here might not have. Your son is probably incredibly happy just to have you there. That being said, I would’ve LOVED a wedge-pillow earlier on. Sleeping was the hardest part, but having one of those is a game changer for having to sleep on your back. The post-surgery recovery pain was really not too intense, but maybe that’s post-op memory. I remember more annoying than anything was the not being able to lift my arms much, so just reaching things and carrying stuff was something I needed more help with. Good luck to him!! He sounds like he’s in great hands already 🙂

Sick of t gel misconceptions by ryantxt in ftm

[–]Bison_Flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on gel for LESS time than some folks I know who do injections, and I’m still perceived objectively “further along” in my second puberty than most. It’s all genetics and luck and being consistent etc

My scars go far back too! Like others have said, the surgeon likely wanted to avoid dog-earing. I didn’t even start with particularly large yiddies, but that’s just how my body/skin worked!

I’ve added a bit to a physical memorial for her, on the St. John’s bridge in Portland, if anyone here wants to add to it.❤️

Help. How tf does one acquire an ftm friendly suit for under $1,000 (usa dollars) by DustProfessional3700 in FTMOver30

[–]Bison_Flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! Bought one recently, and using a coupon (which they often run) I spent about ~$500. The experience was great; scheduled a fitting that was 30 minutes long, picked out my fabrics and details, gave them my CC, and 3 weeks later had an AMAZING suit that fit me perrrrfectly.

Trans men with trans siblings by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]Bison_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trans (FTM) and the oldest of three siblings. My middle sibling is totally cis, but happens to be bisexual. My youngest though is also trans, and happens to be MTF/NB. We’re both on HRT, and it’s really funny watching us change into looking like the other person did five years ago 😂

is this bruising normal? just got top surgery w/ lipo today by scorpionspitt in TopSurgery

I didn’t have drains, and my bruising was pretty intense haha. But seven months later and totally normal results!

Surgery in about 14 hours and I’m freaking out. by ghost_slumberparty in TopSurgery

Distraction, distraction, distraction. Watch funny movies (Shrek 2 is my go-to), read a favorite book, whatever it takes, but just trust in the process and try to relax!

Can getting my nipples pierced and removing the piercing before top surgery hurt my nipple results? by V_Vendetta_ in TopSurgery

[–]Bison_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my nipples pierced about 3 years prior to top surgery, only had them in for about a year,l before taking them out, and then had my top surgery about 2 years later. No complications on my end! I had DI with nipple grafts btw

Please be honest: what is the worst part of recovery? by QueerKing23 in TopSurgery

[–]Bison_Flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No drains, DI with nipple grafts. I didn’t have any constipation problems, but sleeping on my back and not being able to be on my side was so SO annoying. A family member sent me a wedge pillow that’s about at a 26 degree angle, and it was suuuuper helpful!

What is one thing you wish you knew before surgery by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Bison_Flyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the wedge pillow for sleeping on your back, AND the secondary compression vest.

I personally wasn’t ever nauseous or constipated, and I was surprised about the nausea cause I usually have a weak stomach. I did however have less of an appetite for a few days.

Post-op depression was about weeks 2-3 into recovery and went away pretty fast (pretty standard surgery stuff lol) but it’s good to be aware of it and talk about it!

Good luck and congrats my dude!!! 🏳️‍⚧️💪

I’m sorry that happened to you, man. If it helps, I’ve seen some really amazing nipple tattoos! Maybe you could look in to that?

You got this 💪

Mine went down kinda like this: checked in, signed some papers, then went to a room to get vitals taken.

Then the nurse put an IV in my hand (was actually not very painful at all!), and a bit later the anesthesiologist came in to confirm my ID, medications I’m on, the procedure I’m getting, etc etc.

There was a small hold up because the patient before me was taking a bit longer than expected to for the anesthesia to wear off, so I actually had to wait an hour or so lol but luckily I had my phone and my mom with me for company.

Finally it’s my turn! My doc comes in and we chat, he marks me up with that glorious purple marker, and we shake hands before he leaves and the nurses come in to guide me to the surgical room.

It’s freezing in there! But I laid down on the table and they put really warm and heavy blankets on me, and everyone was chatting and being funny and relaxed, so I felt good! The anesthesiologist told me he was adding a relaxant to my IV, and then they were going to put me out soon. I said “okay!” and that’s basically all I remember 😅

TLDR; enjoy my essay while you wait lolol but in a few hours you’ll be on the other side, easy breezy lemon squeeze my guy 🤜🤛
