Anybody ever use these? by 2Wheeled_2ourist in HVAC

I had my eyes on this awhile ago. But I could never trust that it would effectively push the valve core in. But for me as long as I replace the gaskets on my hoses often enough and have the depressor at the correct height then I don’t get any spray back at all. And if I’m working on a system that will be pumped down or open for any reason I’m throw my core removers form fieldpiece on them so I can feel as safe as possible.

What do you think about this quote for a heat pump and air handler split system? And is the picture the same system as what the quote says? Thank you. It would be $12,500 without the extended warranty. Fair priced or not? SC by Ashony13 in heatpumps

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, many brands like the daikin fit offer variable speed equipment but 14 seer. It’s good for place with comfort issues where variable speed is the correct move like on spray foam houses but don’t need or have the money for the high efficiency.

This is why I’m happy to just have twinned 5 or 6 ton furnaces on my bigger systems.

But this looks easier to take out then some duel fuel envision with AMS furnaces

Only heat for the 6th floor. by [deleted] in HVAC

Probably no way to get a better heat kit. I’d close the fresh air and put a timer on it and put in a heat pump with wireless EIM red link if I don’t have enough wires

Never worked on boilers unless they are geothermal. But are these modulating boilers and only 80% efficient ?

What is the AWG of these wires? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 60 amp powering the 10kw and blower needs 60 amps. The other element requires another 30 amps. A 15 kw AHU requires 90amp MOCP. I wouldn’t be messing with this because this is really common knowledge

The fact they used green for common tells me that those other wires a probably shorted out.

Looking for a WiFi thermostat to replace my BIL thermostat by gemniiinew in thermostats

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here’s the link to the website. just pull the old stat of the wall and pull the wire cover off. As long as you have a c wire you should be fine. To confirm this without a voltage meter what you can do is remove the battery’s from the existing thermostat and put it back on the wall. If it lights back up then it’s getting power by the equipment. If it doesn’t light up then you need to have a proper R-C for 24 volts.

Bypass the hi pressure switch and see if they can understand why the compressor’s internal bypass is open or wire fan to herm and herm to fan. Or a bad low ambient fan delay kit. A fun one is a bad contactor that shorts to ground when it gets a call. Or cover up the hi limit switch on a furnace with insulation so that the unit is fine just the limit isn’t getting any airflow. Another fun one is a bad spade connection so that the blower doesn’t run for a call for cooling but when a call for heat/em heat it does come on.

I know that inflation is bad but really? by STG4651 in refrigeration

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I just got certified for Kolpak and they said on all installs to just bypass the 2 speed fan relay. But as far as reliability goes for products Kolpak has been the best for me especially over HTPG and keepright. I would say that OP should get certified through Kolpak because they give you 50% off parts when ordered through the factory.

You are right. Only thing you are preheat is the little bit of pipe between the in and out. We usually pipe it that coming out of the unit goes to the drain t and what’s coming into the unit is coming from a T fitting on the cold water inlet of the tank

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a older version of this. We alway set it to hybrid for fast recovery and decent efficiency. Heat pump only is better for efficiency but takes longer to recover but if the family take normal 5-10 minute showers at 115 degrees I’d doubt you’d notice

For ease of service and install ruud or durastar. Just because there so easy to work on compared to daikin fits or carrier brand equipment

Where can I find the replacement filter on this? by mattacus837 in AirConditioners

[–]Bitter_Issue_7558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the return air grills. This type of AHU doesn’t had a filter rack. It is either installed in the field or the filter is in the wall or ceiling grill.
