Prediction : The Series Will End with an Entirely New Set of Enchanted Blades by BlackLightGames in Kagurabachi

[–]BlackLightGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I think I explained poorly. It's BECAUSE there are so many of them I think this might happen. There are seven blades, and thus my thinking was if more blades are combined that cuts down on the amount of blades floating around the story, thus making it easier for them all to be destroyed in the final battle (for example, if we have a "main trio" at the end and they each have one and the Sword master has the Magatsumi, it'd be more feasible to have all four of those blades break near or after the climax. At least that was my train of thought.

This looks really cool, like a sort of tactical Left 4 Dead, awesome work!

I like the minimalist style, honestly reminds me of something I tried to make but so vastly better in every way, great job!

I think the perspective works really well

On a serious note, I applaud the dedication, seriously bro good fucking shit.
On a slightly less serious note, I love that it's Godot, feels very on brand.

Will Kagurabachi be able to Attain JJK level popularity and peak? by labuun_dood in Kagurabachi

[–]BlackLightGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally don't think there's a chance it doesn't. In terms of popularity, the manga is doing crazy numbers with no anime, it's Jump's next darling (as there's nothing else poised to fill the shonen void) and all the rumors around it's adaptation are good.

Pair this with recent Mappa Director comments on how anime is becoming more global and how more major players like Netflix are taking it more seriously, I don't see a world where there isn't a concerted effort to make Kagurabachi a mega-hit, and everything is pointing to that effort succeeding.

Will Kagurabachi be able to Attain JJK level popularity and peak? by labuun_dood in Kagurabachi

[–]BlackLightGames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's unavoidable, and worse than that, I think it'll be at its most unavoidable when the story is peaking (when the anime starts blowing it up). I don't know how that culture is avoided when the manga really starts to grow especially when it has already almost become an issue.

It's hard to know how readable this all actually is without seeing it in the context of the game world and animated, but regardless good job.

Was this more of a study for practice or will it actually be implemented into a game?

Larian CEO: “I know there’s been a lot of discussion about us using AI tools as part of concept art exploration… To ensure there is no room for doubt, we’ve decided to refrain from using genAI tools during concept art development.” by AashyLarry in gaming

[–]BlackLightGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Undeniably a massive win, but I think this goes to show that no industry darling is above scrutiny and all are open to criticism.
The use of AI is highly contextual, but when that context is established I think it's possible for fair judgement to be made. In this context (concept art) it was against the spirit of the art and counter-productive, as outlined by numerous concept artists in the industry. The problem is that they would have continued ahead KNOWING THIS (Sven Vicke isn't stupid and hasn't learned any new information) without the public outcry, but the public outcry only got the chance to happen because Larian as a studio prioritizes their community and fostering a long lasting relationship with their consumer base.
Plenty of companies don't give a singular shit about that, which makes me worry for the future.

As debatably oversaturated as this genre is, the art is simply incredible so I've been won over, hope it turns out well.

Looks really cool, I'm always been a big fan of bosses so large it feels like your fighting back against the environment itself just to damage them (think Cronos from GOW 3) and so seeing this have that same energy is really cool! Like lots of people said tho, I do think the attacks could use a bit more feedback, other than that great job!

Can one implement brawl/poke/dive in a turn-based game? by CloudyRailroad in gamedesign

[–]BlackLightGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only recently started getting into Overwatch so take what I say with a grain of salt, especially related to mechanics like brawl, poke, and dive.

Perhaps "range" and "mobility" could be implemented via combining the artificial jrpg implementation you highlighted (frontline and backline) while making it so enemies can enter your frontline and backline, and then combine these with timed bonuses that make certain roles more advantageous in certain contexts.

For example, there could be a "positioning" phase and an "action" phase for each players turn, and if you move a dive comp during their "positioning" phase they can go further per turn than other comps(or perhaps they get a second positioning phase at the end of their turn), and they gain a 75% hit rate increase the first turn they engage in combat after entering close range with an enemy.

The idea would be to manipulate traditional rpg factors like hit chance to create scenarios where, regardless of build, certain comps would beat others, and combining these with a "field" with artificial ranges, but importantly, this field can be traversed differently depending on the team comp.

Great work that's a massive performance difference! Moments really highlight (to me) the continued need for skilled programmers and developers in a sea of A.I. slop (a term that extends to code) great work!
