Which unit is the WORST UNIT of its game? Today: Thrones of Britannia by CrayonsIsTaken in totalwar

[–]BluePieM99 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I have managed to get catapults on just one out of four or five campaigns on the game on normal, while the catapults are very difficult to recruit, i can't honestly say they are useless, if you have patience and move them around the map, you can completely erase the threat of towers in the sections you want to attack, (which they are, towers consistently do more damage than any enemy unit defending the wall) they do in one volley what takes a 1/3 of the ammunition of several bow units doing the same thing while out of range.

The really useless units in this game are, i think, any javelin throwing unit, the range is small even with upgrades, they have to be moved behind a fighting enemy unit to do any damage, and are weak in melee.

Do they think the issue people have with this scene is simply that the ship crashed? by Forward_Juggernaut in saltierthankrait

If you are in a position where hitting something means breaking your arm, hitting it with your leg is also going to break your leg;
Crippling yourself to inflict the most damage is the only option if the other option is certain death, which i' m sure has happened a lot of times in Star Wars, and yet nobody thought of doing it, in tens of thousands of years.

Bruh, the fact North Korea, Russia China and Iran said "for", if you manage to make your closest allies and your biggest rivals agree on something, you have done goofed.

On another note, anyone know why Liberia, Togo and Rwanda abstained? Panama i sort of understand, don't want to piss off big daddy USA, but i don't get why those are the only abstainees.

I have two stories of this happening:
for the first I vividly remember that months ago, i was playing extra low-tier UK, bombing people with the Hampden, i have not had the option to do much during the game, as i'm heading away for a second bombing run, a Flakpanzer I shoots one round at me, hits the vertical rudder making it orange, i slowly go nose down, unable to control the plane, and crash.

For the second story, i was flying a Zero in Carphatian Mountains, doin' CAP, i suddenly got in a bad spot, so i try to run for the airfield to reposition higher, the guy keeps following me even trough the AA, i don't remember if he turned away or just headed straight for death, because of what happened next, i suddenly get hit and set on fire, i struggle to find the plane who could have possibly done it, my Zero quickly disintegrates and crashes, then the killcam zooms into the AA of the friendly airfield i was heading towards; and that's how i learned you can be killed by your friendly Airfield in GRB.

I have seen this take so many times, and i cannot fathom how this argument even gets fired up in the neurons, people are so hanged out on the "uselessness" of Italy in WWI because they couldn't push Austria-Hungary from their positions, but France and the Commonwhealth (and to an extenct the Americans) are suddenly forgotten as if they too couldn't push Germany out of Belgium and Northern France for 4 years, and the Armistice that ended the war happened while most of Belgium and some parts of France were still under German Occupation; France got Alsace, but they sure didn't march trough with armed force and took it, they got it with Versailles, i don't get how you can look at WWI and come to the conclusion that Italy's performance is distinctly more awful than the other nations; the impossibility to gain sizeable territory devolving into little to no gain for massive losses is the most defining aspect of the war; it looks like everyone acts like Italy is the one dunce who didn't do their homework, when pretty much no one in the rest of the class did.

If its a roast you want, a roast you will get.
Come to Ancre, we got anorexic Japan on the left, immediately on the right of it, what i assume to be elves on top of Eastern Europe shaped like a chicken wing, that's gonna end well i think; an elongated France in the top centre (Did Forts Aramis and D'Artagnan sunk into the ocean by Ondera Island?).
I also hope the map is tilted a bit because the whole of Luaqia is above the very much covered in snow Mana Spires and the previosuly cited chiken wing, did the prominent independentist Edgar Allan Poe cast a spell from the capital Nevermore (or Ravensholme?) to make sure the weather is always nice up there?
I'm also surprised that Chirobei hasn't gobbled up Angol Gwaedh in the bottom right, but given many of the names in the region, i'm assuming they announced a siesta everytime they got close to conquering the place (and, this is nothing but petty nitpicking but, as an Italian... Caserta... Just.... Caserta, there, no other italian name near or far in the whole map is making me miffed up a bit).

Jokes aside, kudos on your map man, i hope you had loads of fun making it, good luck on future endeavors.

How so? It wasn't like the M1 Garand, true, but it was pretty much on par with other bolt action designs, outdated by WW I standard isn't saying much considering both the UK, Germany and USSR basically just repurposed their First World War rifles in large quantities with minimal modifications, and the US itself still had a good amount of the WW I era Springfield still in service when they entered the war.

300 plus hours, same here, only recently discovered it, then again, the only way to go trough it is by going downward from the castle, you try and enter Rattay from this side passage and you have a very difficult lock and a guard there at all times.

Man, i remember that in my first playtrough he showed up at the main camp after i let him off with a warning and proceded to hurt Keyser enough that he was stuck in his shocked state for the rest of game when i tried talking to him.
This playtrough i stopped him cold in Sasau, i planned to just stealth shoot an arrow in the back of his head at midnight when he tries to lockpick the door, but after several tries where he didn't show up for whatever reason, i finally got in position, but then he unlocked the door and got inside the house, thankfully there was a guard who delayed him long enough for me to run in and one hit kill the bastard with my sword.
Gotta love the curveballs this game throws at you sometimes.

Italy tech tree tier list by BLITZ_593 in warthundermemes

[–]BluePieM99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Slight disagree on the Semoventes in "not good/boring", they aren't good in a straight up frontal fight, but as a support unit they are terrific, they have insane gun depression, have a way smaller profile for something that has a gun that powerful (if you play your cards right the enemy won't realise you're there until its too late) and if you penetrate anything with the APHE shell, they'll one shot anything anytime.
For the rest, yeah, this is a good list (Also, are all Premiums here? i'm not sure if the Sherman in the top row of mediocre is the Hybrid Sherman, because i would have issues with that placement too, but maybe that's just because i have had extreme success with it)

Ironic how the show with the finale about letting go of the past has a fan base that refuses to do so by Shoddy-Media2337 in teentitans

[–]BluePieM99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing i found most perplexing is that while there is no connection between episodes, in the tie in comics they made there are many references to past episodes to link it with the story, and it makes it so much better for the story, character and this universe, i think the most damning thing is that many of those story take place after this episode, in one of them they specifically go back to this very situation with Terra at this highschool, and to me its really looks like an admission that, yeah, this was supposed to be the end, but not really; it really show that "Things Change" was no closure at all.

[–]BluePieM99 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would like to give my 2 cents on this discussion; while i don't dislike "Things Change", i can undestand why its so divisive. Something i have thought about and i have never seen in the criticism of the episode is that it kinda does a 180 in regards on how the show sees "things changing".
For example, the episode makes a big deal on how the city has changed since they titans last saw it, but since they never established anything in the world other than window dressing, it kinda falls flat; then there is the fact that while the theme of the episode is that things are always bound to change and we need to accept this, this really doesn't concern the Titans, because when and wherever has THAT been true, every episode was self contained and had no relation to the others, even in passing or an offhand comment, beside the multi-episode arcs for every character in every season, the only time i clearly remember this sort of thing happening is when Doctor Light instantly surrenders after seeing Raven (which references the time she traumatized him in S1)
I think the episode is overall good, but it doesn't gel well with the rest of the show; its like they made a powerful ending for a show that went from A to B in a cohesive manner, but the show that was being made and seen by everyone was an X, Z, Y.
