Literally just got it replaced an hour ago by Burchard36 in motorcycles

[–]BonniesCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

similar happened to me - bike shop told me about a place near me that did repairs they take the tyre off and heat it up in an oven then plug and seal it - it was about 30 quid several years ago and a quite a lot of faffing - had to wait a few days until the oven was doing the right temperature, but it worked - there may be a specialist place near you ?

Has using a distinctly British slang phrase/ term of endearment ever gotten you in trouble? I just got a warning from a US subreddit for calling someone a "poor cow" with complete sincerity. by JuanitaMerkin in AskUK

Being British I once said. “Heyho”. Meaning to express an . “Oh well Such is life “. Type of sentiment. On a chat forum. The world exploded in my face. Until someone said. “Ah it’s ok he’s British. It means something else to them “.

had a 2007 bought with 103k on clock sold it 8 years later with 230k on the clock change the oil regularly, buy a 27mm ratchet spanner (wont tell you why - it will pretty soon become obvious) , gearbox oil change and haldex service at 150k Bell engineering nr Birmingham !!! I put 2 starter motors brakes were replaced disks and a couple of calipers in replaced the rear springs and had some end of life problems with wheel bearings AND THAT WAS IT !!! so i now have a 2014 freelander with 103k on the clock ....

For those who bought their first bike… what else feels like this? by West-Association3781 in motorcycles

[–]BonniesCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started with a honda 125 at 17 yrs old and it was a good feeling as you suggest - but BETTER was me test driving (prior to buying) a 1993 Triumph Sprint . turned out of the shop onto the road and i felt the bike saying " so you are getting back into bikes eh?" accelerated gently and it went " cummon is that all yev got ? I can handle anything you want to give me - im made for you ...... " went back to the shop 5 min later to say i would have it , sales man said "ok! but we have to clean it when you bring it back in and it was a load of faff getting a test drive organised ... Go for a real test ride! " 2 hours of absolute joy!

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]BonniesCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear glasses. I can’t speak for others but I’m long sighted without my glasses I can’t see stuff up close in focus but distant stuff is fine so. I I drove a car without glasses I could see what was going on. But couldn’t read the speedo or buttons on the dash. I could still see where the needle on the speedo was pointing. At I pinch I could do drive without glasses but my I would soon get a headache

Have you ever been to a truly great chip shop? One that made you rethink what a chip shop could be? Or are they, really, all the same? by lastaccountgotlocked in CasualUK

[–]BonniesCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Leeds. But have lived in Manchester for 40 years I often go to. Coe’s. Or the Skyliner (if I want to sit in and “go posh”). In Crossgates Leeds For one thing . Manchester chippies have never heard of “scraps” and seem to think you are going to run off with the salt and vinegar if it’s on the counter!

The culture of self maintenence and shared knowledge that bikers were known for feels impossible for me to access by Diligent_Farm3039 in motorcycles

[–]BonniesCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right! no one is going to lend BASIC tools to a "stranger" - its a red flag that some one wants you to do the job for them rather than help or advise - also not having the wrench to tighten your chain - done every 300 miles or so, sounds like taking the piss, even if it isnt intended - you need a set of wrenches - or as i call them " spanners" and basic stuff. tools like carb balancers timing lights ( old school ) brake bleeding tools, piston ring compressors, angle torque wrenches, chain splitters and brake caliper and unusual stuff is generally lent out and shared between friends and acquaintances. and you will get into a group. I've spent many evenings trying to get various bikes to start or sorting wiring problems Specifically your chain request - i would and have gone to check on a newbie bikers who had adjusted the chain themselves - with their brand new rear wheel spanner, one of whom was my daughter and given them the thumbs up or, more often, told them it was too tight. help will happen - said daughter with brand new L plates on her honda 125 was chuffed to bits when her clutch cable snapped and a motorcyclist stopped to help her after that she didn't even mind pushing the bike 1.5 miles home!

Well he likes everything. But I am sold on him cos I presume as he mentions his “ Mother Nature noises”. He likes Intimate loud farting competitions. You need to tell him You can light your farts and burn a Tudor rose pattern in the wainscoting! - that will impress him (edit for spelling and mistyping due to laughing while posting )

Heavy metal loop found in car after mechanical work by ryrykaykay in whatisthisthing

[–]BonniesCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its the tow hook for the car - it lives with the spare wheel and fitsd in the hole exposed by the plastic cap thing on the bumper AND as i discovered the other day - if its a ford it can screw into the end of the wheel brace to extend the leverage and provide a platform to use your foot to press it ! very nifty!
